Graphic organizers make learners efficiently process a lot of information. In addition, graphic organizers facilitate their memory and retrieval. Thus, they have been used as an instructional strategy for enhancing learners\' learning and reading comprehension. The purpose of this study was to present the theoretical underpinnings for the use of graphic organizers, some areas for applications of graphic organizer in educational practices, and several issues which must be considered in using the graphic organizers. So far, the use of graphic organizers have been supported by encoding specific principle, schema theory, and text structure. Graphic organizers can be applied to learning in content areas, study guides, writing(composition), educational assessments, and reporting. However, when using graphic organizers for students with learning disabilities, many issues have been raised in student characteristics, features of graphic organizer, instructional features, instructional materials, teachers\' variable, generalization, and other dimensions. Therefore, we must systematically solve these issues and establish the general principes for constructing graphic organizer and systems for the use of graphic organizer. Also, we need to consider so that students effectively use graphic organizer with interest in leaning.
