The purpose of this study was to provide information about multiple determinants of father involvement from the point of shared caregiving. To create a measure of perceived shared caregiving, this study used responses to a set of items in the caregiving and child-related household tasks. The subjects were 261 fathers with child age 3. Respondents answered “always mother”, “usually mother”, “shared”, “usually father”, “always father”. The major findings were the following：first, caregiving and nurturing activities, and child education were included in mother\'s area, outdoor play and going out with child included in shared caregiving area. Second, in wife’s support, fathers’ perceived competence, wife‘s employment served to facilitate increased involvement by fathers.
