This study is to check if cognitive behavioral family art therapy is effective in reducing the child's problem behavior caused by anxiety and the mother's parenting stress and depression, where the study subjects of the family are a girl in the second grade of O elementary school in D metro-city and her mother. The cognitive behavioral family art therapy program consists of a total of 14 sessions, once each week with 1-2 hours, during May 31 through August 30, 2008. Analytic tools used are RCMAS (Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale) for the child's anxiety, PSI/SF (Parenting Stress Index/Short Form) for the mother's parenting stress with BDI for the mother's depression level, and pretest and posttest of KFD as projective tests. The study results are as follows. First, the child's anxiety level scores 13 points reduced.
Second, the mother's parenting stress and depression level show 63 pts and 20 pts reduced, respectfully.
Third, the interaction level between the child and the mother shown in the KFD pretest was not smooth or harmonious, but became smooth and amicable exhibited in the posttest. Thus, it can be acknowledged that cognitive behavioral family art therapy is positively effective in reducing child' anxiety and mother's parenting stress and depression.
