"The purpose of this study is to find suggestions for moral education based on the essence of learning represent Chapter ‘Hagi(學而)’ in the Analects of Confucius. Meta-moral in curriculum is to give the foundation of moral education before learn moral contents. It is relevant to why we should learn moral, how to learn moral. Recently, the learning is increasing remarkably in quantity and speed of changing. But we cannot help doubting that is right learning. People judge learning by utilities under the influences of change in the purpose of learning, viewpoint of knowledge, and trends of modern civilization. As a result, learning is divested of essence. The Analects is in itself a treasure land of learning. It has essential meanings about learning. Especially, Chapter ‘Hagi’ is the beginning of this book having intensive meaning.
This study, which is focused on Nonǒjibju(論語集註) and Nonǒkogǔmju(論語古今註), searches the contents of learning in ‘Hagi’and 'Why, How, and What' we should learn. Two commentary books are chosen for not comparing but getting objectivity. I analyze the substance of Chapter ‘Hagi’ in each section as main issue. Then I try to build the basis of meta-learning. The matter of meta-learning is philosophical and practical. Therefore, it should be related to moral education. In conclusion, I suggest Moral education should to deal with meta-learning.
