Potato Soft Rot Pathogen 105 associated detailed annotation. Identification of PCWDE. The amino acid sequences of P. carotovorum ICMP 5702 were downloaded in FASTA format from RAST and screened for carbohydrate-active modules using dbCAN Carbohydrate-active enzyme An- notation (http://bcb.unl.edu/dbCAN2/blast.php) (Zhang et al., 2018). Sequences associated with glycosyl transferase activity... a gram-negative, broad host range bacterial pathogen which causes soft rot disease in potatoes as well as other vegetables worldwide. While Pectobacterium infection relies on the production of major cell wall degrading enzymes, other virulence factors and the mechanism of genetic adaptation of this pathogen is not yet clear. In the present study, we have performed an in-depth genome-wide characterization of Pcc strain ICMP5702 isolated from potato and compared it with other pathogenic bacteria... -

3D carbon-based materials with controlled and uniform morphologies using tem- plate-free methods. Template-assisted methods have been used because the template acts as a morphology-determining agent. Template-directed methods use both hard, solid-type (silica and polystyrene [PS] spheres or metal foams) and soft templates (polymeric or amphiphilic compounds). Catalytically active nickel and... Porous materials play a vital role in science and technology. The ability to control their pore structures at the atomic, molecular, and nanometer scales enable interactions with atoms, ions and molecules to occur throughout the bulk of the material, for practical applications. Three-dimensional (3D) porous carbon-based materials (e.g., graphene aerogels/hydrogels, sponges and foams) made of graphene or graphene oxide-based networks have attracted considerable attention because they offer low... -

electrode materials, supports, catalysts, etc. [93-98]. Many synthetic methods for ordered porous carbon materials have been reported including (1) direct synthesis by organicor- ganic self-assembly, involving a combination of carbon precur- sors and block copolymers as soft templates, and (2) nanocast- ing using silica materials as structural directing hard templates [99-102]. Cao et al. [102]... as an important green and economic technology. It is very important to develop highly efficient adsorbents to realize techno-economic systems for CH4 adsorption and storage. In this review, we summarize the nanomaterials being used for CH4 adsorption, which are divided into non-carbonaceous (e.g., zeolites, metal-organic frameworks, and porous polymers) and carbonaceous materials (e.g., activated carbons, ordered porous carbons, and activated carbon fibers), with a focus on recent research. -
Effects of phosphorus content and operating temperature on the electrochemical performance of phosphorus-doped soft carbons

petroleum cokes (GS Energy, Ko- rea) were prepared by simply mixing the cokes with a H3PO2 solution (50% in H2O; Sigma-Aldrich) for 10 h at room tem- perature. To prepare a series of soft carbons with different phosphorus contents, various mass ratios of petroleum cokes and phosphorus (i.e., 97.5:2.5, 92.5:7.5 and 90.0:10.0) were ap- plied. The resulting materials were carbonized at 900°C for... content. In addition, the influence of temperature on the electrochemical behaviors of the soft carbons was investigated in a wide temperature range of 25°C to 50°C. Surprisingly, the electrochemical properties of the pristine and P-doped soft carbons were highly sensitive to the operating temperature, unlike conventional graphite. The pristine and P-doped soft carbons exhibited significantly high discharge capacities of 470 and 522 mAh/g, respectively, at a high temperature of 50°C. -

Superhydrophobic carbon-based materials are particularly interesting due to their exceptional physicochemical properties. This review discusses the various techniques used to produce superhydrophobic carbon-based materials such as carbon fibers, carbon nanotubes, graphene, amorphous carbons, etc. Recent advances in emerging fields such as energy, environmental remediation, and thermal management in relation to these materials are also discussed. -

Methods: Forty-eight subjects with wrist pain who were in the age range of 18-70 years old were examined. The subjects were asked, via an interview and a visual analog scale, to grade their wrist pain. They were... -

reveal potential pathogenicity. Taken together, the relationship between canine DMVD and genetic variation was evaluated. Materials and Methods Animals This study was approved by the University of Konkuk Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC No. KU15115). Informed owner consent was obtained. All dogs were selected from those referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital... Degenerative mitral valve disease (DMVD) is the most commonly acquired cardiac disease in dogs. This study evaluated the relationship between genetic variations in the serotonin transporter (SERT) gene of Maltese dogs and DMVD. Genomic DNA was extracted from blood samples collected from 20 client-owned DMVD Maltese dogs and 10 healthy control dogs, and each exon of the SERT gene was amplified via polymerase chain reaction. The resulting genetic sequences were aligned and analyzed for variations...
