Media Landscape without Apple: A Workshop for Critical Awareness of Alternative Media Infrastructure
Mizukoshi Shin 경인교육대학교 교육연구원 The Journal of Education 18 Pages
경인교육대학교 교육연구원 The Journal of Education 2020, Vol.3 No.2 5 77-94 (18 pages)
Until the 2000s, media literacy evolved while centering around the application of critical thinking of contents such as TV programs and the exchanges on social media. However, unlike television, messages on social media are inseparable from the infrastructure that supports them, as the nature of the infrastructure frames the contents and the communication phenomenon. When Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon are so visible in our daily lives, we believe it is necessary to examine and promote... -
CRITICAL LITERACY LEARNING WITH MULTIPLE DIGITAL SOURCES
Cho Byeong-Young 경인교육대학교 교육연구원 The Journal of Education 17 Pages
경인교육대학교 교육연구원 The Journal of Education 2020, Vol.3 No.2 3 41-57 (17 pages)
This article aims to discuss how students learn critical literacy when they are supported in accessing, examining, and using multiple digital sources in school contexts. I begin with a brief introduction to research-informed perspectives on reading in the digital age and how people learn to read in new media environments. Next, I describe students’critical literacy learning using data from a design-based study that supports youths’inquiry of multiple digital sources for historical learning.... -
Histopathological and biochemical findings of congenital copper deficiency: are these similar to those of caprine arthritis-encephalitis?
I. Ayhan Ozkul*, G. Alcigir, A. Sepici-Dincel, A. D. Yonguc, A. Akcora, J. Turkaslan 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages

This study was done after identifying animals with a twisted carpal joint in goat herd. These included a kid goat walking on its articulus carpii and a newborn goat with a stiff leg. Necropsies of the diseased goats revealed swollen carpal joints that were twisted backwards. Arthritis was observed during microscopic examination of the carpal joints. Very low levels of eosinophil, leucocyte, and lymphocyte cell infiltration were found in the central nervous system and meninges. Serum copper... -
Neuroprotective effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester in 3-nitropropionic acid-induced striatal neurotoxicity

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2016, Vol.20 No.3 7 279-286 (8 pages)
Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), derived from honeybee hives, is a bioactive compound with strong antioxidant activity. This study was designed to test the neuroprotective effect of CAPE in 3-nitropropionic acid (3NP)-induced striatal neurotoxicity, a chemical model of Huntington’s disease (HD). Initially, to test CAPE’s antioxidant activity, a 2,2’-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) antioxidant assay was employed, and CAPE showed a strong direct radicalscavenging eff... -
Androgen Receptor-dependent Expression of Low-density Lipoprotein Receptor-related Protein 6 is Necessary for Prostate Cancer Cell Proliferation
EunPark, EunKyoungKim, MinkyoungKim, JungMinHa, YoungWhanKim, SeoYeonJin, HwaKyoungShin, HongKooHa, JeongZooLee, SunSikBae 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages

Androgen receptor (AR) signaling is important for prostate cancer (PCa) cell proliferation. Here, we showed that proliferation of hormone-sensitive prostate cancer cells such as LNCaP was significantly enhanced by testosterone stimulation whereas hormone-insensitive prostate cancer cells such as PC3 and VCaP did not respond to testosterone stimulation. Blocking of AR using bicalutamide abolished testosterone-induced proliferation of LNCaP cells. In addition, knockdown of AR blocked... -
Effects of Vitamin D on Blood Pressure and Endothelial Function
BokyungMin 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages

Vitamin D deficiency is prevalent, primarily due to limited sun exposure, which may be observed in urban areas, or as a result of modern lifestyles. Common myths about vitamin D persist, including that it is mostly obtained from the diet and is only essential for bone and mineral homeostasis. Nonetheless, advances in biomedical science suggest that vitamin D is a hormone that is integral to numerous physiologic functions in most cells and tissues. Therefore, abnormal vitamin D levels may... -
Kainic Acid-induced Neuronal Death is Attenuated by Aminoguanidine but Aggravated by L-NAME in Mouse Hippocampus
Jong-SeonByun, Sang-HyunLee, Seong-HoJeon, Yong-SooKwon, HeeJaeLee, Sung-SooKim, Young-MyeongKim, Myong-JoKim, WanjooChun 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages

Nitric oxide (NO) has both neuroprotective and neurotoxic effects depending on its concentration and the experimental model. We tested the effects of NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), a nonselective nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitor, and aminoguanidine, a selective inducible NOS (iNOS) inhibitor, on kainic acid (KA)-induced seizures and hippocampal CA3 neuronal death. L-NAME (50 mg/kg, i.p.) and/or aminoguanidine (200 mg/kg, i.p.) were administered 1 h prior to the... -
Differentiation Induction of Dendritic Cell Phenotypes from Human Leukemic Cell Lines

Recent clinical studies have shown that a high proportion of patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) achieve complete remission after treatment with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA). However, most patients who receive continuous treatment with ATRA relapse and develop ATRA-resistant leukemia. Dendritic cells (DCs) are important antigen-presenting cells in the development of antileukemic T-cell responses. In this study, we investigated the strategies to overcome ATRA resistance of APL...
