in SHR. Strikingly, profound raised blood pressure were revealed in DOCA-WKY rat (71.5% vs. WKY) and DOCA-SHR (63.7% vs. SHR). Interestingly, the body weight as parameter following physiological growth were significantly decreased in DOCA-WKY rats (7.3% vs. WKY) as well as DOCA-SHR (6.9% vs. SHR). These results suggest that DOCA-SHR animal model might be available for investigation of incidental mechanisms between cardiogenic hereditary hypertension and secondary metabolic hypertension. -

neurotrophins. Thus, we investigated the neuroprotective effect of environmental enrichment on ethanol induced cognitive impairment in adolescent rats. Methods: The ethanol groups and the controls groups were injected with ethanol (0.5g/kg) and phosphate buffered saline, respectively, through intraperitoneal from 28th day of birth for 11 days. The environmental enrichment groups were provided larger cages containing toys than the standard cage . Passive avoidance test and Y-maze test were... -

reduction current for CAP was proportional to its concentration under optimized conditions in a range of 0.09-47 μM with a correlation coefficient of 0.9919 and a limit of detection of 0.09 μM (S/N=3). Moreover, the fabricated sensor exhibited anti-interference ability towards 4-nitrophenol, thiamphenicol, and 4-nitrobenzamide. The developed electrochemical sensor is a cost effective, reliable, and straightforward approach for the electrochemical determination of CAP in real time applications. -
Fast neutron irradiation deteriorates hippocampus-related memory ability in adult mice

In the object recognition memory test and contextual fear conditioning, mice trained 1 and 7 days after irradiation displayed significant memory deficits compared to the sham-irradiated controls. The number of Ki-67- and DCX-positive cells decreased significantly 24 h post-irradiation. These results indicate that acute exposure of the adult mouse brain to a relatively low dose of fast neutrons interrupts hippocampal functions, including learning and memory, possibly by inhibiting neurogenesis. -

such as duodenal ulcers and bleeding in East Asian counties. We demonstrated that this compound is able to normalize the altered lipid metabolism induced by hyperglycemia and a high fat diet. In this study, we determined whether hyperlipidemic conditions induced with chronically treated alcohol can also be restored by DWP208. Similar to our previous results, orally administered DWP208 (1 to 10 mg/kg) also ameliorated the hyperlipidemia that was induced by alcohol. This compound reversed the... -
Ca2+-induced Ca2+ Release from Internal Stores in INS-1 Rat Insulinoma Cells

a rat pancreatic Ղ-cell line, INS-1 cells. To measure cytosolic and stored Ca2+, respectively, cultured INS-1 cells were loaded with fura-2/AM or furaptra/AM. [Ca2+]i was repetitively increased by caffeine stimulation in normal Ca2+ buffer. However, peak [Ca2+]i was only observed after the first caffeine stimulation in Ca2+ free buffer and this increase was markedly blocked by ruthenium red, a RyR blocker. KCl-induced elevations in [Ca2+]i were reduced by pretreatment with ruthenium... -

on the L-type calcium channels which are essential to the E-C coupling at the level of single ventricular myocytes isolated from neonatal rat heart, using the whole-cell voltage-clamp technique. Only diclofenac of three NSAIDs, including naproxen and ibuprofen, significantly reduced inward whole cell currents. At concentrations higher than 3ՌM, diclofenac inhibited reversibly the Na+ current and did irreversibly the L-type Ca2+ channels-mediated inward current (IC50=12.89±0.43ՌM) ... -

we found Iberiotoxin- and TEA-sensitive outward rectifying oscillatory current with whole-cell recordings. Single channel analysis showed large conductance K channels (106 pS of chord conductance at 40 mV in physiological K gradient). The 106 pS channels were activated by membrane potential and [Ca2]i, consistent with the known properties of BKCa channels. BKCa channels in CRL-1474 were positively regulated by adenylate cyclase activator (10μM forskolin), 8-Br-cyclic... -

hybrid) cDNA library. Also studied were effects of 8-bromo-cyclic AMP and naloxone on DPDPE-induced changes in the voltage sensitive outward current. The voltage sensitive outward currents were recorded using perforated patch technique at room temperature. In the non-transformed HEK293 cells, DPDPE did not alter voltage sensitive outward current, indicating that no native δ-Opioid receptor had been developed. However, (1 μM) DPDPE remarkably increased the voltage sensitive outward current in...
