a L-type calcium channel activator (FPL 64176). Intrathecal sildenafil produced an antinociceptive effect during phase 1 (0∼10 min interval) and phase 2 (10∼60 min interval) in the formalin test. Intrathecal KT 5823 and FPL 64176 attenuated the antinociceptive effect of sildenafil during both phases. Sildenafil is effective against both acute pain and the facilitated pain state at the spinal level. In addition, the inhibition of an L-type calcium channel by activation of the PKG may contribute... -

is known to be involved in the modulation of nociception and to reduce the efficacy of morphine analgesia. This study investigated the effects of intrathecal administration of morphine and the cholecystokinin type B antagonist CI-988 on below-level neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury in rats. We also examined the interaction of morphine and CI-988 in the antinociceptive effect. Both morphine and CI-988 given individually increased the paw withdrawal threshold to mechanical stimulation in a... -

The aim of this study was to evaluate the synergistic potentiation effect of ineffective doses of dexmedetomidine on antinociception induced by morphine and fentanyl in acute pain model in rats. Seventy albino Wistar rats were separated into 7 groups. Data for the control and sham groups were recorded. The ineffective dose of dexmedetomidine was investigated and found to be 3 Ռg/kg. Each group was administered the following medications: 3 mg/kg morphine (intraperitoneal) to Group 3, 5... -

effects, the antinociceptive action of morphine was potentiated when morphine was iontophoretically applied together with Mn2, verapamil, AP5, Mg2 or H-7. However, the potentiating action between morphine and each antagonist was not apparent, when the antinociceptive action evoked by morphine or the antagonist alone was too strong. These results suggest that the potentiating effect can be caused by the interaction between morphine and each antagonist in the spinal dorsal horn. -

Intravenously administered morphine enhanced the C-response while the A-response decreased insignificantly, Only the C-response was decreased by intrathecal morphine. 3) All the ten recorded cutaneous sympathetic fibers showed periodic discharge pattern similar to respiratory rhythm and five of them also showed cardiac-related rhythm. However, most of the muscular sympathetic fibers had cardiac-related rhythm and only four fibers showed respiratory rhythm. 4) Morphine decreased the sympathetic... -
