The Effect of LidocaineㆍHCl on the Fluidity of Native and Model Membrane Lipid Bilayers
Jun-SeopPark, Tae-SangJung, Yang-HoNoh, Woo-SungKim, Won-IckPark, Young-SooKim, In-KyoChung, UyDongSohn, Soo-KyungBae, Moon-KyoungBae, Hye 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 10 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2012, Vol.16 No.6 7 413-422 (10 pages)
The purpose of this study is to investigated the mechanism of pharmacological action of local anesthetic and provide the basic information about the development of new effective local anesthetics. Fluorescent probe techniques were used to evaluate the effect of lidocaineㆍHCl on the physical properties (transbilayer asymmetric lateral and rotational mobility, annular lipid fluidity and protein distribution) of synaptosomal plasma membrane vesicles (SPMV) isolated from bovine cerebral cortex, and... -
Spontaneous Contractions Augmented by Cholinergic and Adrenergic Systems in the Human Ureter
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2011, Vol.15 No.1 6 37-42 (6 pages)
Interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) evoke pacemaker activities in many tissues. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between interstitial cell and pacemaker activity in the human ureter through the recording of spontaneous contractions. Spontaneous contractions of eight circular and longitudinal smooth muscle strips of the human ureter to acetylcholine (ACh) and/or norepinephrine (NE) were observed. Human ureteral strips were divided into proximal and distal groups, and... -
Regional Distribution of Interstitial Cells of Cajal (ICC) in Human Stomach

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2010, Vol.14 No.5 11 317-324 (8 pages)
We elucidated the distribution of interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) in human stomach, using cryosection and c-Kit immunohistochemistry to identify c-Kit positive ICC. Before c-Kit staining, we routinely used hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining to identify every structure of human stomach, from mucosa to longitudinal muscle. HE staining revealed that the fundus greater curvature (GC) had prominent oblique muscle layer, and c-Kit immunostaining c-Kit positive ICC cells were found to have typical... -
Relaxation Patterns of Human Gastric Corporal Smooth Muscle by Cyclic Nucleotides Producing Agents

The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.6 15 503-510 (8 pages)
To elucidate the mechanism of cyclic nucleotides, such as adenosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cAMP) and guanosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (cGMP), in the regulation of human gastric motility, we examined the effects of forskolin (FSK), isoproterenol (ISO) and sodium nitroprusside (SNP) on the spontaneous, high K+ and acetylcholine (ACh)-induced contractions of corporal circular smooth muscle in human stomach. Gastric circular smooth muscle showed regular spontaneous contraction, and FSK,... -
Regulation of Ba2+-Induced Contraction of Murine Ureteral Smooth Muscle
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2007, Vol.11 No.5 7 207-213 (7 pages)
This study was designed to characterize ureteral smooth muscle motility and also to study the effect of forskolin (FSK) and isoproterenol (ISO) on smooth muscle contractility in murine ureter. High K+ (50 mM) produced tonic contraction by 0.17±0.06 mN (n=19). Neuropeptide and neurotransmitters such as serotonin (5μM), histamine (20μM), and carbarchol (CCh, 10∼50μM) did not produce significant contraction. However, CCh (50μM) produced slow phasic contraction in the presence of 25 mM K+.... -
Cooperation of Gβ and Gαq Protein in Contractile Response of Cat Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES)
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2003, Vol.7 No.6 9 349-355 (7 pages)
We previously shown that LES contraction depends on M3 receptors linked to PTX insensitive Gq protein and activation of PLC. This results in production of IP3, which mediates calcium release, and contraction through a CaM dependent pathway. In the esophagus ACh activates M2 receptors linked to PTX sensitive Gi3 protein, resulting in activation of PLD, presumably, production of DAG. We investigated the role of PLC isozymes which can be activated by Gq or Gβ protein on ACh-induced contraction in... -
The Role of Adenosine Receptors on Acetylcholine Release in the Rat Striatum
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 12 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1997, Vol.1 No.1 1 1-12 (12 pages)
As it has been reported that the depolarization induced acetylcholine (ACh) release is modulated by activation of presynaptic A1 adenosine heteroreceptor and various evidence suggest that indicate the A2 adenosine receptor is present in the striatum, this study was undertaken to delineate the role of adenosine receptors on the striatal ACh release. Slices from the rat striatum were equilibrated with [3H]choline and then the release amount of the labelled product, [3H]ACh, which was evoked by...
