Permissive action of thyroid hormone at the level of Ca channel and responsible mechanisms underlying thyroid hormone-induced change in myocardial contractile state and T3-induced arrhythmias were investigated in rabbit ventricular or atrial myocytes using whole cell patch clamp technique. Single cells were isolated by Langendorff perfusion with collagenase. Cardiac myocytes were incubated in low-Cl-,, high-K+ medium containing 1μM L-triiodothyronine (T3) at 4℃ for 2.10 hours. The calcium... -
Effect of Renal Ischemia in Tetraethylammonium Transport in Rabbit Renal Coritcal Slices

This study was carried out to determine effect of acute renal ischemia on transport function of organic cation, tetraethylammonium (TEA), in rabbit kidney proximal tubule. Clamping of the renal artery for 30 and 60 min produced a polyuria which was accompanied by an increase in Na+ excretion. The capacity of kidney cortical slices to accumulate TEA was increased after 30 and 60 min of ischemia. When blood flow was restored for 30 min after 30 and 60 min of ischemia, the augmented TEA uptake was... -

Resistance to Turnip Mosaic Virus in the Family Brassicaceae
The Plant Pathology Journal 23 Pages
1 1-23 (23 pages)
Resistance to diseases caused by turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) in crop species of the family Brassicaceae has been studied extensively, especially in members of the genus Brassica. The variation in response observed on resistant and susceptible plants inoculated with different isolates of TuMV is due to a combination of the variation in the plant resistome and the variation in the virus genome. Here, we review the breadth of this variation, both at the level of variation in TuMV sequences, with one... -
Nitric Oxide Plays an Important Role in β-Aminobutyric Acid-Induced Resistance to Botrytis cinerea in Tomato Plants
Rui Li, Jiping Sheng, Lin Shen 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 12 Pages
2 121-132 (12 pages)
β-Aminobutyric acid (BABA) has consistently been reported to enhance plant immunity. However, the specific mechanisms and downstream components that mediate this resistance are not yet agreed upon. Nitric oxide (NO) is an important signal molecule involved in a diverse range of physiological processes, and whether NO is involved in BABA-induced resistance is interest- ing. In this study, treatment with BABA significantly increased NO accumulation and reduced the sensitivity to Botrytis cinerea... -
The Shaker Type Potassium Channel, GORK, Regulates Abscisic Acid Signaling in Arabidopsis
Chae Woo Lim, Sang Hee Kim, Hyong Woo Choi, Sheng Luan, Sung Chul Lee 한국식물병리학회 The Plant Pathology Journal 8 Pages
14 684-691 (8 pages)
Evolution of adaptive mechanisms to abiotic stress is essential for plant growth and development. Plants adapt to stress conditions by activating the abscisic acid (ABA) signaling pathway. It has been suggested that the ABA receptor, clade A protein phosphatase, SnRK2 type kinase, and SLAC1 anion channel are important components of the ABA signaling pathway. In this study, we report that the shaker type potassium (K+) channel, GORK, modulates plant responses to ABA and abiotic stresses. Our... -
Visual Analysis for Detection and Quantification of Pseudomonas cichorii Disease Severity in Tomato Plants
The Plant Pathology Journal 11 Pages
3 300-310 (11 pages)
Pathogen infection in plants induces complex responses ranging from gene expression to metabolic processes in infected plants. In spite of many studies on biotic stress-related changes in host plants, little is known about the metabolic and phenotypic responses of the host plants to Pseudomonas cichorii infection based on image-based analysis. To investigate alterations in tomato plants according to disease severity, we inoculated plants with different cell densities of P. cichorii using dipping... -
Expression of Rice Chitinase Gene in Genetically Engineered Tomato Confers Enhanced Resistance to Fusarium Wilt and Early Blight
The Plant Pathology Journal 7 Pages
6 252-258 (7 pages)
This is the first study reporting the evaluation of transgenic lines of tomato harboring rice chitinase (RCG3) gene for resistance to two important fungal pathogens Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici (Fol) causing fusarium wilt and Alternaria solani causing early blight (EB). In this study, three transgenic lines TL1, TL2 and TL3 of tomato Solanum lycopersicum Mill. cv. Riogrande genetically engineered with rice chitinase (RCG 3) gene and their R1 progeny was tested for resistance to Fol by...
