Noradrenergic Modulation of Spontaneous Inhibitory Postsynaptic Currents in the Hypothalamic Paraventricular Nucleus
LongHwaLee, WoneeChong, KihoLee, JinBongPark, PanDongRyu 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 10 Pages

Previous studies have suggested that brain stem noradrenergic inputs differentially modulate neurons in the paraventricular nucleus (PVN). Here, we compared the effects of norepinephrine (NE) on spontaneous GABAergic inhibitory postsynaptic currents (sIPSCs) in identified PVN neurons using slice patch technique. In 17 of 18 type I neurons, NE (30∼100μM) reversibly decreased sIPSC frequency to 41⁑7% of the baseline value (4.4⁑0.8 Hz, p<0.001). This effect was blocked by yohimbine... -

of TFA with the inside-out patch mode. Results: TFA enhanced channel activity in a concentration-dependent fashion. The concentration of TFA for half-maximal activation and the Hill coefficient were 0.03 mM and 1.2, respectively. TFA did not affect the single channel conductance of KATP channels. Analysis of open and closed time distributions showed that TFA increased burst duration and decreased the interburst interval without changes in open and closed time distributions shorter than 5 ms. TFA... -

K channel subunit Kir6.2, and the other expressing renal KATP channel ROMK2. At concentrations of 0.3∼10% (vol/vol) DMSO inhibited whole cell Kir6.2/SUR1 currents elicited by bath application of sodium azide (3 mM) in a concentration-dependent manner. The inhibition constant and Hill coefficient were 2.93% and 1.62, respectively. ROMK2 currents, however, was not affected significantly by DMSO. The results support the idea that DMSO inhibits KATP channel expressed in Xenopus oocyte through a... -
The Alteration of Ca2+-activated K+ Channels in Coronary Arterial Smooth Muscle Cells Isolated from Isoproterenol-induced Cardiac Hypertrophy in Rabbit
NariKim, JinHan, EuiyongKim 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 10 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2001, Vol.5 No.2 5 147-156 (10 pages)
It has been proposed that Ca2-activated K (KCa) channels play an essential role in vascular tone. The alterations of the properties of coronary KCa channels have not been studied as a possible mechanism for impaired coronary reserve in cardiac hypertrophy. The present studies were carried out to determine the properties of coronary KCa channels in normal and hypertrophied hearts. These channels were measured from rabbit coronary smooth muscle cells using a patch clamp technique.... -
Effects of Prostaglandin F2α on Membrane Potentials and K+ Currents in Rabbit Middle Cerebral Arterial Cells

hyperpolarized membrane potentials and increased outward whole-cell K currents. PGF2α increased open-state probability of KCa channels without the change of the open and closed kinetics. PGF2α increased the amplitudes of KV currents with a leftward shift of activation and inactivation curves and a decrease of activation time constant. Our results suggest that the activation of KCa and KV channels, at least in part, may lead to attenuate or counteract vasoconstriction by PGF2α in middle... -
The Role of K+ Channels on Spontaneous Action Potential in Rat Clonal Pituitary GH3 Cell Line
HyewhonRhim, Hye-JungBaek, Won-KyungHo, YungEEarm 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 10 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2000, Vol.4 No.2 1 81-90 (10 pages)
The types of K channel which determine the pattern of spontaneous action potential (SAP) were investigated using whole-cell variation of patch clamp techniques under current- and voltage-clamp recording conditions in rat clonal pituitary GH3 cells. Heterogeneous pattern of SAP activities was changed into more regular mode with elongation of activity duration and afterhyperpolarization by treatment of TEA (10 mM). Under this condition, exposure of the class III antiarrhythmic agent E-4031... -
Effect of Prostaglandins D2, E2 and I2 on the Regulation of KATP Channel Activity in Rat Cardiac Myocytes

dose-dependent manner when the channel activities were attenuated by the administration of 100 μM ATP to the internal solution in the inside-out patch. Channel activations by the prostaglandins were abolished by 50 μM glibenclamide, a KATP channel blocker. Dose-response curves of relative channel activity against the ATP concentrations of internal solution in the inside-out patch were shifted to the right in the presence of those three prostaglandins. The rank order of the channel stimulatory... -

the last 5-mins of EEG recording at each concentration level. Correlation coefficients between the parameters and the movements were calculated. Standardized values of three parameters, betaL power, median power frequency (MPF), and D2 were derived by calculation based on the number of animals showing the movement in response to a tail clamp. The betaL power had the largest correlation coefficient to spontaneous movement and to the response to a tail clamp than any other band parameter. MPF had... -

(30∼50 Hz). In rats, the low dose of chlropromazine (1 mg/kg, i.p.) produced a significant increase in the power of the beta1 band. The higher doses (5, 10 mg/kg, i.p.) produced a significant increase in the power of the delta, theta, alpha and beta1 bands, and the decrease in the power of the gamma band. The powers of the bands changed dose-dependently. Then, the authors discussed whether the EEG effects produced by a drug are associated with the accompanying behavioral changes specifically. -

a high Mg2/low Ca2 solution, sera from 13 of 18 ALS patients caused a significant increase in MEPP frequency, from 2.18⁑0.31 Hz to 6.09⁑0.38 Hz. Sera from 11 of 18 patients produced a significant increase of nerve-evoked EPP amplitude, from 0.92⁑0.05 mV to 1.30⁑0.04 mV, while the other seven ALS sera did not alter EPP amplitude. In the ALS group, EPP quantal content was also elevated by the sera of 14 patients (from 1.49⁑0.07 to 2.35⁑0.07). MEPP...
