A Current Assessment of Some Extraterritorial Impacts of The Dodd- Frank Act with Special Focus on The Volcker Rule and Derivatives Regulation
31 Pages
1 3-33 (31 pages)
by the US financial reforms, in particular anti money laundering provisions, the Volcker Rule and the proposed OTC derivatives margin requirements, and considers some of the dilemmas presented by modern global banking and its concomitant regulation. The conclusion is that we are likely to see more regional reforms that are not necessarily uniform, and that this might not be a bad result, given the complexity of the financial markets and the need to respond flexibly to evolving circumstances. -

Azyyati Zakaria, Fonny Dameaty Hutagalung, Sharifah Muzlia Syed Mustaffa 환태평양유아교육연구학회 Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 22 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2023, Vol.17 No.1 9 177-198 (22 pages)
As more parents achieve a higher education level and are exposed to better parenting behaviors and styles, the changing roles of housekeepers and managing child's education are expected. Millennial parents are reported to hold a stable career, higher economic status, better access to information, and practices of successful parenting. Nonetheless, there are substantive reports of millennial parents still practicing traditional parenting, who had witnessed and experienced its effective practices... -
Influence of Play-based Learning in Early Childhood Education (ECE) in Bangladesh: Lessons from Japan
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 27 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2022, Vol.16 No.2 10 203-229 (27 pages)
absence of children's play and play-based learning in Bangladesh is due to a lack of government policy initiatives and parental socioeconomic situations. A theoretical analysis has been included through Vygotsky’s sociocultural approach to understanding the necessities of play-based learning for the welfare of children in Bangladesh. The findings show that the government policy formulation and stakeholders’ engagement might create the opportunity for establishing play-based learning in ECE. -

Korea as they navigate their new home as mothers of young children using the following research question: What impact does Filipina immigrant mothers’ knowledge of the English language have on their mothering experiences and the ways they navigate local communities in Korea? I examine how Filipina mothers use English as a means of communication with their children, as an asset to pursue employment opportunities, and as a channel through which they establish relationships in Korean society, whi... -

a tool for assessing holistic early child development in preschoolers aged from three to six years. The original version of the scale, HKECDS, was updated in 2019 (HKECDS-2) to reflect the contemporary context and local curricular expectations. Children (n = 144) from three kindergartens in Hong Kong completed the HKECDS-2 in individual sessions. Rasch model analysis and expert discussions resulted in a short version of the scale (HKECDS-3) with 50 items in nine domains. The domains are Personal... -

Mobilising Pacific Indigenous knowledges to reconceptualise a sustainable future: A Pasifika early childhood education perspective.
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 18 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2021, Vol.15 No.1 7 119-136 (18 pages)
The proliferation of sustainability discourse in early childhood education reveals deeply rooted epistemic tensions regarding the position of humanist ideology and the relationship to the natural world. This article argues for a reconceptualising of sustainability pedagogy in early childhood education, through the embodied and embedded ontologies Pacific Indigenous knowledge systems offer. The 'endangerment' discourse relevant to human and non-human others, is called into question, particularly... -

Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 19 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2021, Vol.15 No.1 2 9-27 (19 pages)
In India, an economically diverse, multi-cultural and multi-lingual country marked by exceptional heterogeneity, the ECE curricula experienced by children from minority groups are usually urban, middle class-oriented, often influenced by the West. The design of these curricula tends to further exclude those already marginalized, especially with learning taking place in a language other than their mother-tongue. It was in this background that a relevant, mother-tongue based curriculum for ECE was... -

The quality of the ECCE curriculum in Malaysia has not yet... -

Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 24 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2020, Vol.14 No.1 8 169-192 (24 pages)
There is a growing attention for parent involvement in education in general and in early childhood education in particular. The vast majority of scholarly literature is published in English language and originates from Western countries. There is a risk that this may lead to the assumption that mainstream ideas in international literature are globally valid and come to dominate those of other countries, despite cultural differences. We conducted a systematic review of Chinese literature on...
