A Kinetic Analysis of the Thermal Degradation of Pyrolytic Heavy Oils obtained from Kiln Pyrolysis Process
Kyong Hwan Lee, Woo-Teck Kwo, Sea Cheon Oh 한국열환경공학회 열환경공학 8 Pages
한국열환경공학회 열환경공학 2011, 제 8권 2호 1 1-8 (8 pages)
The kinetic analysis of the thermal degradation of pyrolytic heavy oils obtained from mixed waste plastics by kiln pyrolysis process has been studied by conventional thermogravimetric technique with various heating rates in nitrogen atmosphere. Results of kinetic analysis show that the activation energies are 24.4~26.5 kJ/mol and the reaction orders are 1.0~1.25, respectively. To verify the effectiveness of the kinetic analysis method used in this work, the experimental values were compared with... -

Relationships between dielectric properties and characteristics of impregnated and activated samples of potassium carbonate- and sodium hydroxide-modified palm kernel shell for microwave-assisted activation
Norulaina Alias, Muhammad Abbas Ahmad Zaini, Mohd Johari Kamaruddin 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 11 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.24 9 62-72 (11 pages)
The aim of this work was to evaluate the dielectric properties of impregnated and activated palm kernel shells (PKSs) samples using two activating agents, potassium carbonate (K2CO3) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH), at three impregnation ratios. The materials were characterized by moisture content, carbon content, ash content, thermal profile and functional groups. The dielectric properties were examined using an open-ended coaxial probe method at various microwave frequencies (1?6 GHz) and... -
Nanoporous carbon synthesized from grass for removal and recovery of hexavalent chromium

to Langmuir isotherm model with maximum monolayer adsorption capacity of 35.335 mg/g. The results indicated that removal obeys a pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and that equilibrium was reached in 10 min. A desorption study was done using NaOH. The results of the present study imply that acid functionalized nanoporous carbon synthesized from grass is an efficient, renewable, cost-effective adsorbent material for removal of hexavalent chromium due to its faster removal rate and reusability. -
Adsorption of lisinopril and chlorpheniramine from aqueous solution on dehydrated and activated carbons

with adsorption data closely following the pseudo second order kinetic model. Adsorption increases with temperature (25°C?45°C) and activation energy (Ea) is in a range of 19?25 kJ mol/L. Equilibrium studies show higher adsorption on AC than DC. Thermodynamic parameters show that drug removal is endothermic and spontaneous with physical adsorption dominating the adsorption process. Column adsorption data show good fitting to the Thomas model. Despite its very low surface area, DC shows ~70% of... -
Effects of cross-linking methods for polyethylene-based carbon fibers: review
Kwan-Woo Kim, Hye-Min Lee, Jeong-Hun An, Byoung-Suhk Kim, Byung-Gak Min, Shin-Jae Kang, Kay-Hyeok An, Byung-Joo Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 24 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.3 2 147-170 (24 pages)
In recent decades, there has been an increasing interest in the use of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in aerospace, renewable energy and other industries, due to its low weight and relatively good mechanical properties compared with traditional metals. However, due to the high cost of petroleum-based precursors and their associated processing costs, CF remains a specialty product and as such has been limited to use in high-end aerospace, sporting goods, automotive, and specialist...
