Dennis Kaw Gomez, Dong Joo Lim, Gun Wook Baeck, Hee Jeong Youn, Nam Shik Shin, Hwa Young Youn, Cheol Yong Hwang, Jun Hong Park, 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 4호 11 369-374 (6 pages)
Betanodaviruses are the causative agents of viral nervous necrosis (VNN) in cultured marine fish. A total of 237 apparently healthy aquarium fish, marine (65 species) and freshwater (12 species) fishes and marine invertebrates (4 species), which were stocked in a commercial aquarium in Seoul, South Korea, were collected from November 2005 to February 2006. The brains of the fish and other tissues of the invertebrates were examined by reverse transcriptasepolymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and... -
Primary structure of mature SAG1 gene of an Indonesian Toxoplasma gondii and comparison with other strains
Sri Hartati, Asmarani Kusumawati, Hastari Wuryastuti, J. Sri Widada 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 9 263-270 (8 pages)
Toxoplasma gondii is a persistent protozoan parasite capable of infecting almost any warm-blooded vertebrates. SAG1 (p30) is the prototypic member of a superfamily of surface antigens called SRS (SAG1-related sequence). It constitutes the most abundant and predominant antigen. In this paper the primary structure of mature SAG1 gene of an Indonesian T. gondii isolate is described and sequence comparison is made with published sequence data of 7 other strains or isolates. Sequence comparison... -
Enhanced immune response with foot and mouth disease virus VP1 and interleukin-1 fusion genes
Jong Hyeon Park, Sun Jin Kim, Jae Ku Oem, Kwang Nyeong Lee, Yong Joo Kim, Soo Jeong Kye, Jee Yong Park, Yi Seok Joo 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 8 257-262 (6 pages)
The capsid of the foot and mouth disease (FMD) virus carries the epitopes that are critical for inducing the immune response. In an attempt to enhance the specific immune response, plasmid DNA was constructed to express VP1/interleukin-1α (IL-1α) and precursor capsid (P1) in combination with 2A (P1-2A)/IL-1α under the control of the human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) immediateearly promoter and intron. After DNA transfection into MA104 (monkey kidney) cells, Western blotting and an... -
Characterization of HC58cDNA, a putative cysteine protease from the parasite Haemonchus contortus
Charles I. Muleke, Yan Ruofeng, Xu Lixin, Sun Yanming, Li Xiangrui 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 7 249-255 (7 pages)
the recombinant HC58 protein isolated from Haemonchus contortus parasites on protein substrates over a broad pH range in vitro. This protein, which hydrolyzed the synthetic peptide substrates Z-FR-AMC and Z-RR-AMC, had characteristics of the cysteine protease class of proteins. In the acidic pH range, the isolated protein actively degraded hemoglobin (Hb), the heavy chain of goat immunoglobulin G, and azocasein. By contrast, it degraded fibrinogen in the alkaline pH range. These activities were... -
Efficacy of VP2 protein expressed in E. coli for protection against highly virulent infectious bursal disease virus
Abdul Rahman Omar, Chong Lee Kim, Mohd Hair Bejo, Aini Ideris 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 6 241-247 (7 pages)
The ability of a heat-inactivated whole virus from a highly virulent infectious bursal disease virus (hvIBDV) and VP2 protein from hvIBDV expressed in E. coli provided protection against a hvIBDV challenge in specificpathogen- free (SPF) chickens. Six out of seven chickens that were injected three times with crude VP2 protein developed significant antibody titer against IBDV. However, only four out of the seven chickens survived the hvIBDV challenge. Despite showing low antibody titer profiles,... -
Unique features of bovine lymphocytes exposed to a staphylococcal enterotoxin
Yong Ho Park, Sang Un Lee, Witold A. Ferens, Sparrow Samuels, William C. Davis, Lawrence K. Fox, Jong Sam Ahn, Keun Seok Seo, By 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 5 233-239 (7 pages)
We previously demonstrated that stimulation of bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) with staphylococcal enterotoxin C (SEC), led to an inversion of the CD4+:CD8+ T cell ratio and generation of an atypical CD8+ T cell subpopulation expressing CD26. In the present study, we examined T cell apoptosis and proliferation profiles of PBMC subpopulations in cultures stimulated with SEC. Unlike when stimulated with concanavalin A, nucleic acid synthesis in bovine PBMC cultures stimulated... -
Topical application of epidermal growth factor accelerates wound healing by myofibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis in rat
Young-Bae Kwon, Hyun-Woo Kim, Dae-Hyun Roh, Seo-Yeon Yoon, Rong-Min Baek, Jeum -Yong Kim, HaeYong Kweon, Kwang-Gill Lee, Young-H 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 2호 2 105-109 (5 pages)
Recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) stimulates the proliferation and migration of epithelial cells in human cell culture systems and animal models of partial-thickness skin wounds. This study investigated the effect of a topical rhEGF ointment on the rate of wound healing and skin re-epithelialization in a rat full thickness wound model, and verified whether or not the rhEGF treatment affected both myofibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis in the dermis. When rhEGF (10... -
Characterization of Brachyspira hyodysenteriae isolates from Korea
Tae Jung Kim, Suk Chan Jung, Jae Il Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 4호 12 335-339 (5 pages)
This study was done to characterize diversity in 10 Brachyspira hyodysenteriae isolates in Korea. The isolates were compared with 14 well-characterized non-Korean strains of various Brachyspira species. All Korean isolates showed strong beta haemolysis and had blunt cell ends with 7~14 periplasmic flagella. They produced indole, and did not ferment fructose. They were alpha-glucosidase positive and alpha-galatosidase negative using the APIZYM kit. Using polyclonal antisera raised in rabbits... -
Simultaneous detection of Lawsonia intracellularis, Brachyspira hyodysenteriae and Salmonella spp. in swine intestinal specimens by multiplex polymerase chain reaction
Dong Kyun Suh, Jae Chan Song 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2005, 제 6권 제 3호 10 231-237 (7 pages)
of DNA from Lawsonia intracellularis, Salmonella typhimurium and Brachyspira hyodysenteriae with each primer set produced fragments of the predicted size without any nonspecific amplification, 210-bp, 298-bpand 403-bp bands, respectively. The single PCR assay could detect as little as 100 pg of purified DNA of S. typhimurium and L. intracellularis, and 50 pg of B. hyodysenteriae, respectively. However, multiplex PCR turned out to be 10 times lower sensitivity with S. typhimurium compared with... -
