Effect of superovulation on uterine and serum biochemical parameters and its potential association with transferable embryos in Holstein dairy cows
Hasina Santatriniaina Rasolomboahanginjatovo, Younès Chorfi*, Raynald Dupras, Louis Mills, Réjean Lefebvre 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 9 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2014, 제 15권 제 2호 14 273-281 (9 pages)
The objective of this study was to determine the effects of superovulation (SOV) on serum and uterine biochemical parameters, uterine bacteriology and cytology and number of transferable embryos (TE). Dairy cows were placed on a Presynch/CIDR Synch protocol. The SOV group was superovulated, induced in estrus, and inseminated, whereas the control group was induced in estrus and inseminated without SOV. Uterine bacteriology and cytology and uterine and serum biochemical parameters were measured at... -
Isolation, in vitro propagation, genetic analysis, and immunogenic characterization of an Ehrlichia canis strain from southeastern Brazil
Rosiane Nascimento Alves*, Susana Elisa Rieck, Carlos Ueira-Vieira, Marcelo Bahia Labruna, Marcelo Emílio Beletti 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2014, 제 15권 제 2호 10 241-248 (8 pages)
Amplification of the 16S rRNA gene from a blood sample obtained from a dog in southeastern Brazil was used to confirm a naturally acquired Ehrlichia (E.) canis infection. Following isolation and culturing of the new bacterial strain called Uberlândia, partial sequences of the dsb and p28 genes were obtained. The dsb partial sequence of the novel strain was 100% similar to dsb gene sequences of E. canis obtained from different geographic areas around the world. Conversely, the p28... -

대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 3호 11 315-321 (7 pages)
This study was conducted to establish an in vitro maturation (IVM) system by selection of efficient porcine serum during porcine in vitro production. To investigate the efficient porcine serum (PS), different types of PS [newborn pig serum, prepubertal gilt serum (PGS), estrus sow serum, and pregnancy sow serum] were used to supplement IVM media with or without gonadotrophin (GTH) and development rates of parthenogenetic activation (PA) and in vitro fertilization (IVF) embryos were then... -
In vitro effects of meloxicam on the number, Foxp3 expression, production of selected cytokines, and apoptosis of bovine CD25+CD4+ and CD25−CD4+ cells
Tomasz Maślanka*, Jerzy Jan Jaroszewski 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 2호 3 125-134 (10 pages)
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of meloxicam (MEL) on selected immune parameters of bovine CD25CD4+, CD25CD4+, and CD25−CD4+ cells. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) collected from 12-month-old heifers were treated with MEL at a concentration corresponding to the serum level of this medication following administration at the recommended dose (MEL 5 × 10 M) and at a concentration 10 times lower (MEL 5 × 10 M). After 12 and 24 h of incubation with the drug,... -
Effects of conditioned media from human amniotic epithelial cells on corneal alkali injuries in rabbits

대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2013, 제 14권 제 1호 9 61-67 (7 pages)
This study was performed to evaluate the effects of conditioned media (CM) from human amniotic epithelial cells (HAECs) on the corneal wound healing process. Eighteen rabbits (36 eyes) were used and randomly assigned to three groups according treatment: CM from HAECs (group 1), vehicle alone (group 2), and saline (group 3). Corneal alkali injuries were induced with 1 N sodium hydroxide. Each reagent used for treatment evaluation was injected into the dorsal bulbar subconjunctiva and the area of... -
Suitability of autologous serum for expanding rabbit adipose-derived stem cell populations

chain reaction. Results of our study showed that ASCs had a greater expansion rate in AS without developing morphological heterogeneity than cells grown in FBS. AS-cultured ASCs expressed representative growth factors, CD44 but not CD45, similar to cells cultured in FBS. Expression levels of some growth factors were different between AS and FBS. In conclusion, our findings indicated that AS could potentially be used as a culture medium supplement for the expansion of autologous ASCs. -
Comparing the osteogenic potential of canine mesenchymal stem cells derived from adipose tissues, bone marrow, umbilical cord blood, and Wharton's jelly for treating bone defects
Byung-Jae Kang, Hak-Hyun Ryu, Sung Su Park, Yoshihisa Koyama, Masanori Kikuchi, Heung-Myong Woo, Wan Hee Kim, Oh-Kyeong Kweon* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 12 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 3호 12 299-310 (12 pages)
Alternative sources of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for replacing bone marrow (BM) have been extensively investigated in the field of bone tissue engineering. The purpose of this study was to compare the osteogenic potential of canine MSCs derived from adipose tissue (AT), BM, umbilical cord blood (UCB), and Wharton's jelly (WJ) using in vitro culture techniques and in vivo orthotopic implantation assays. After canine MSCs were isolated from various tissues, the proliferation and osteogenic... -

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the capacity of a lactic acid bacteria (LAB) inoculum to protect calves with or without lactose supplements against Salmonella Dublin infection by evaluating histopathological lesions and pathogen translocation. Fifteen calves were divided into three groups [control group (C-G), a group inoculated with LAB (LAB-G), and a group inoculated with LAB and given lactose supplements (L-LAB-G)] with five, six, and four animals, respectively. The inoculum,... -

Sungjin Ko, Jun-Gu Kang, Su Yeon Kim, Heung-Chul Kim, Terry A. Klein, Sung-Tae Chong, William J. Sames, Seok-Min Yun, Young-Ran 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 3호 4 197-203 (7 pages)
The prevalence of tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) in southern Korea was determined by collecting ticks using tick drags. A total of 4,077 of 6,788 ticks collected were pooled (649 pools) according to collection site, species, and developmental stage and assayed for TBEV. The TBEV protein E and NS5 gene fragments were detected using RT-nested PCR in six pools of nymphs collected from Jeju Island (2,491 ticks). The minimum field detection rates for TBEV were 0.17% and 0.14% for Haemaphysalis... -

The present study was conducted to examine post-thaw in vitro developmental competence of buffalo embryos cryopreserved by cytoskeletal stabilization and vitrification. In vitro produced embryos were incubated with a medium containing cytochalasin-b (cyto-b) in a CO2 incubator for 40 min for microfilament stabilization and were cryopreserved by a two-step vitrification method at 24C in the presence of cyto-b. Initially, the embryos were exposed to 10% ethylene glycol (EG) and 10%...
