Modulation of Amygdala Synaptic Transmission by Metabotropic Glutamate Receptors
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 4 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2003, Vol.7 No.6 2 303-306 (4 pages)
the group II mGluR agonist LCCG-1 (10μM) induced long-term as well as short-term depression. Thus, our data suggest that activation of group I or II mGluRs produces short-term, reversible depression of excitatory synaptic transmission at thalamic input synapses onto the lateral amygdala. Considering the long-term effect upon activation of group II mGluRs, lack of long-term effects upon activation of group I and II mGluRs may indicate a possible cross-talk among different groups of mGluRs. -
Effects of Central GABA and Glutamate on Blood Pressure and Single Unit Spikes in the RVLM of Rats
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2002, Vol.6 No.3 4 149-154 (6 pages)
The blood pressure (BP) is regulated by the nervous system and humoral factors, such as renin- angiotensin system, vasopressin and others. In the present study, we examined the central effects of glutamate and GABA on the cardiovascular regulation by injection of these substances into the lateral ventricle and also investigated the relationship between these central effects and the action of angiotensin II (Ang). Male Sprague Dawley rats, 350∼400 g, were anesthetized with urethane and... -
Correlation between mEPSC Amplitude and Rise Time upon the Blockade of AMPA Receptor Desensitization at Hippocampal Synapses
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2002, Vol.6 No.2 3 81-86 (6 pages)
Conventional views of synaptic transmission generally overlook the possibility of "postfusional- control" the regulation of the speed or completeness of transmitter release upon vesicular fusion. However, such regulation often occurs in non-neuronal cells where the dynamics of fusion-pore opening is critical for the speed of transmitter release. In case of synapses, the slower the transmitter release, the smaller the size and rate-of-rise of postsynaptic responses would be expected if... -
Effect of Heme Oxygenase Induction by NO Donor on the Aortic Contractility
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2001, Vol.5 No.1 12 87-92 (6 pages)
Carbon monoxide (CO) binds to soluble guanylate cyclase to lead its activation and elicits smooth muscle relaxation. The vascular tissues have a high capacity to produce CO, since heme oxygenase-2 (HO-2) is constitutively expressed in endothelial and smooth muscle cells, and HO-1 can be greatly up-regulated by oxidative stress. Moreover, the substrate of HO, heme, is readily available for catalysis in vascular tissue. Although the activation of heme oxygenase pathway under various stress... -
Role of Angiotensin II and Nitric Oxide in the Rat Paraventricular Nucleus
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 6 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2001, Vol.5 No.1 6 41-46 (6 pages)
To investigate the mutual relationship between angiotensin II (Ang II) and nitric oxide (NO) in paraventricular nucleus (PVN), Ang II receptor type Ia (AT1A), type Ib (AT1B), endothelial constitutive nitric oxide synthase (ecNOS), and neuronal constitutive nitric oxide synthase (ncNOS) mRNA levels of rat PVN were measured after unilateral carotid artery ligation. AT1A and AT1B mRNA levels were markedly elevated 6 hrs after unilateral carotid artery ligation. Losartan injection (10μg/0.3μl)... -
Molecular Analysis of AQP2 Promoter. I. cAMP-dependent Regulation of Mouse AQP2 Gene
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1999, Vol.3 No.2 5 157-164 (8 pages)
To determine molecular mechanisms of Aquaporin-CD (AQP2) gene regulation, the promoter region of the AQP2 gene was examined by transiently transfecting a promoter-luciferase reporter fusion gene into mouse renal collecting duct cell lines such as mIMCD-3, mIMCD-K2, and M-1 cells, and NIH3T3 mouse embryo fibroblast cells. PCR-Southern analysis reveals that mIMCD-3 and mIMCD-K2 cells express AQP2, but M-1 and NIH3T3 cells do not, and that the treatment with cpt-cAMP (400μM) or forskolin/... -
Nitric Oxide Impairs the Recovery from Hemorrhagic Hypotension in Conscious Rats
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 7 Pages
The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 1998, Vol.2 No.3 9 345-351 (7 pages)
The role of nitric oxide (NO) in the hemorrhagic hypotension was examined using a NO synthase inhibitor, Nω-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), in conscious rats. The rats were bled at a constant rate (2 ml/kg/min) through a femoral arterial catheter until the mean arterial pressure (MAP) was reduced by 50 mmHg. We studied the responses to hemorrhage under normal condition (Control) and after the pretreatment with 3 doses of L-NAME (1.6, 8, 40 mg/kg i.v. of NOX1.6, NOX8, and NOX40,... -
Avoidant Insecure Attachment as a Predictive Factor for Psychological Distress in Patients with Early Breast Cancer

at follow-up. Results_At baseline, 53 (46.5%) participants were found to be in the distress group. The degree of distress decreased over 1 year (p= 0.003); however, 43 (37.7%) showed significant remaining distress at follow-up. Baseline scores of the ECR-M36 avoidance [odds ratio (OR)=1.045, 95% confidence interval (CI)=1.002–1.090] and HADS-total (OR=1.138, 95% CI=1.043–1.241) were predictors of distress at follow-up. Conclusion_A substantial proportion of early BC patients suffer...
