Kyoung-won Seo, Jong-bok Lee, Jin-Ok Ahn, Hee-woo Lee, Cheol-yong Hwang, Hwa-young Youn*, Chang-woo Lee 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 2호 9 179-185 (7 pages)
The aim of this study was to demonstrate and assess C-reactive protein (CRP) changes in dogs with induced bacterial cystitis with or without antibiotics. We also evaluated availability of CRP levels to serve as an indicator for monitoring or diagnosing bacterial cystitis. Serial CRP concentrations in dogs with induced bacterial cystitis were higher than those of controls (p < 0.001). CRP concentrations peaked on day 7 and gradually decreased thereafter. In the treatment group, CRP... -

Junpei Kimura*, Nobunori Kakusho, Kenji Yamazawa, Yuuko Hirano, Yasuo Nambo, Hideo Yokota, Ryutaro Himeno 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 3 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 2호 11 161-163 (3 pages)
The 3D internal structure microscopy (3D-ISM) was applied to the equine ovary, which possesses peculiar structural characteristics. Stereolithography was applied to make a life-sized model by means of data obtained from 3D-ISM. Images from serially sliced surfaces contributed to a successful 3D reconstruction of the equine ovary. Photopolymerized resin models of equine ovaries produced by stereolithography can clearly show the internal structure and spatial localizations in the ovary. The... -
Protection of chicken against very virulent IBDV provided by in ovo priming with DNA vaccine and boosting with killed vaccine and the adjuvant effects of plasmid-encoded chicken interleukin-2 and interferon-g
Jeong Ho Park, Haan Woo Sung, Byung Il Yoon, Hyuk Moo Kwon* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 10 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 2호 6 131-140 (10 pages)
The aim of this study was to examine the efficacy of in ovo prime-boost vaccination against infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) using a DNA vaccine to prime in ovo followed by a killed-vaccine boost post hatching. In addition, the adjuvant effects of plasmid-encoded chicken interleukin-2 and chicken interferon-g were tested in conjunction with the vaccine. A plasmid DNA vaccine (pcDNA-VP243) encoding the VP2, VP4, and VP3 proteins of the very virulent IBDV (vvIBDV) SH/92 strain was injected... -
Comparative study on the aflatoxin B1 degradation ability of rumen fluid from Holstein steers and Korean native goats
Santi Devi Upadhaya, Ha Guyn Sung, Chan Hee Lee, Se Young Lee, Sun Woo Kim, Kyung Jin Cho, Jong K. Ha* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 1호 5 29-34 (6 pages)
aflatoxin B1 degrading abilities of two different ruminants were compared in this study. One set of experiments evaluated the aflatoxin B1 degradation ability of different rumen fluid donors (steers vs. goats) as well as the rumen fluid filtration method (cheese cloth filtered vs. 0.45 Ռm Millipore) in a 2 × 2 factorial arrangement. Additional studies examined aflatoxin B1 degradation by collecting rumen fluid at different times (0, 3, 6, 9 and 12 h) after feeding. Cannulated Holstein... -

developed as an alternative to acute brain slices because the neuronal viability and synaptic connectivity in these cultures can be preserved well for a prolonged period of time. This study evaluated a stationary organotypic slice culture developed for the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus (PVN) of rat. The results showed that the slice cultures maintain the typical shape of the nucleus, the immunocytochemical signals for oxytocin, vasopressin, and corticotropin-releasing hormone, and the... -

in the development of a practical and effective control strategy against Eimeria and design of nutritional interventions to maximize growth under the stress caused by vaccination or infection. Furthermore, successful identification of quantitative economic traits associated with disease resistance to coccidiosis will provide poultry breeders with a novel selection strategy for development of genetically stable, coccidiosis-resistant chickens, thereby increasing the production efficiency. -

liberal, depending on the priors used. The simulated specificities of the ELISA close to one another, ranging 84.7-90.6%, whereas the sensitivity was somewhat spread out depending largely on the priors with a range of 46.4-88.2%. Our findings indicate that the ELISA method appeared useful as a screening tool at a minimum level in comparison to other diagnostic tests available for this disease in terms of sensitivity. However, this advantage comes at a cost of having low specificity of the test. -
