Study on properties of eco-friendly reduction agents for the reduced graphene oxide method
Young-il Na, Young Il Song, Sun Woo Kim, Su-Jeong Suh 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 9 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.24 1 1-9 (9 pages)
studied the basic properties and fabrication of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) prepared using eco-friendly reduction agents in the graphene solution process. Hydrazine is generally used to reduce graphene oxide (GO), which results in polluting emissions as well as fixed nitrogen functional groups on different defects in the graphene sheets. To replace hydrazine, we developed eco-friendly reduction agents with similar or better reducing properties, and selected of them for further analysis. In this... -
Electrochemical determination of chloramphenicol using a glassy carbon electrode modified with dendrite-like Fe₃O₄ nanoparticles
Krishnan Giribabu, Sung-Chan Jang, Yuvaraj Haldorai, Muruganantham Rethinasabapathy, Seo Yeong Oh, Arunkumar Rengaraj, Young-Kyu Han 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 6 38-47 (10 pages)
In this study, magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were electrochemically synthesized in an aqueous electrolyte at a given potential of -1.3 V for 180 s. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that dendrite-like Fe3O4 nanoparticles with a mean size of < 80 nm were electrodeposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The Fe3O4/GCE was utilized for sensing chloramphenicol (CAP) by cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry. A reduction peak of CAP at the Fe3O4/GCE was observed at 0.62 V, whereas... -
Formation of nanojoints between carbon nanotubes and copper nanoparticles
Jagjiwan Mittal, Kwang Lung Lin 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 11 86-92 (7 pages)
Exceptional properties and a one dimensional structure make carbon nanotubes (CNTs) a promising candidate for future applications in the electronic industry [1-3]. Because of their smaller dimensions and higher conductivity as compared to copper, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) may increase the bandwidth density of global interconnects [4]. They demonstrate charge carrier mean free paths between 500 nm and 10 μm as compared to 40 nm in metals. CNTs can carry exceptionally high current... -
Density functional theory study of CH4 and CO2 adsorption by fluorinated graphene
Doh Gyu Hwang, Euigyung Jeong, Seung Geol Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 5 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.20 13 81-85 (5 pages)
Phenomena related to global warming have been of particular interest among researchers, strongly encouraging them to identify various methods of adsorbing contributing gases, such as CH4 and CO2 [1,2]. Many adsorbents have been widely proposed and studied to remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere and protect the environment [3,4]. Carbon-based materials for adsorption are an intriguing subject owing to their very high specific surface area, low weight, and elasticity [5,6]. Among various... -
One-step synthesis of dual-transition metal substitution on ionic liquid based N-doped mesoporous carbon for oxygen reduction reaction
Ulziidelger Byambasuren, Yukwon Jeon, Dorjgotov Altansukh, Yunseong Ji, Yong-Gun Shul 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 12 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2016, Vol.17 No.1 8 53-64 (12 pages)
Nitrogen (N)-doped ordered mesoporous carbons (OMCs) with a dual transition metal system were synthesized as non-Pt catalysts for the ORR. The highly nitrogen doped OMCs were prepared by the precursor of ionic liquid (3-methyl-1-butylpyridine dicyanamide) for N/C species and a mesoporous silica template for the physical structure. Mostly, N-doped carbons are promoted by a single transition metal to improve catalytic activity for ORR in PEMFCs. In this study, our N-doped mesoporous carbons were... -
Influence of laminated orientation on the mechanical and thermal characteristics of carbon-fiber reinforced plastics
Hee-Jae Shin, Lee-Ku Kwac, Min-Sang Lee, Hong-Gun Kim 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 6 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2015, Vol.16 No.4 3 241-246 (6 pages)
Rapid industrial development in recent times has increased the demand for light-weight materials with high strength and structural integrity. In this context, carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) composite materials are being extensively used. However, laminated CFRPs develop faults during impact because CFRPs are composed of mixed carbon fiber and epoxy. Moreover, their fracturing behavior is very complicated and difficult to interpret. In this paper, the effect of the direction of lamination... -
Properties of multi-walled carbon nanotube reinforced epoxy composites fabricated by using sonication and shear mixing
Min Ye Koo, Hon Chung Shin, Won-Seok Kim and Gyo Woo Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 7 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.4 4 255-261 (7 pages)
than that of the other specimens. On the other hand, in the measurement of thermal expansion, specimens having 0.4 and 0.6 wt% filler contents showed a lower value than that of the other specimens. The electrical conductivities also increased with increasing content of nanotube filler. Based on the measured and evaluated properties of the composites, it is believed that the simple and efficient fabrication process used in this study was sufficient to obtain improved properties in the specimens -
Excellent field emission properties from carbon nanotube field emitters fabricated using a filtration-taping method
Dong Hoon Shin, Seung Il Jung, Ki Nam Yun, Guohai Chen, Seok-Gy Jeon, Jung-Il Kim, Cheol Jin Lee 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 4 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2014, Vol.15 No.3 10 214-217 (4 pages)
A filtration-taping method was demonstrated to fabricate carbon nanotube (CNT) emitters. This method shows many good features, including high mechanical adhesion, good electrical contact, low temperature, organic-free, low cost, large size, and suitability for various CNT materials and substrates. These good features promise an advanced field emission performance with a turn-on field of 0.88 V/mm at a current density of 0.1 mA/cm2, a threshold field of 1.98 V/mm at a current density of 1 mA/cm2,...
