We investigated inhibitory effects of extract containing quercetin-3-O-Ղ-D-glucuronopyranoside (ECQ) extracted from Rumex Aquaticus Herba on indomethacin-induced gastric damage in Rats. Gastritis was induced in male Sprague-Dawley rats (200∼220 g) by oral administration of indomethacin at a dose of 40 mg/kg. One hour before administration of indomethacin, animals were orally pretreated with ECQ at doses of 0.3, 1, 3 or 10 mg/kg. Six hours after indomethacin administration, the rats were... -

of protein synthesis without Dex treatment enhanced FcՃRI and FcՃRIII mRNA levels potently, while FcՅRI and FcՃRIIb were minimally affected. Next, we examined expressions of the Fc receptors on cell surfaces by the flow cytometric method. Only FcՃRIIb protein expression was significantly enhanced by Dex treatment, while FcՃRI, FcՃRIII and FcՅRI expression levels were marginally changed. Our data showed, for the first time, that Dex regulates Fc... -
Synaptic Plasticity in Mouse Models of Autism Spectrum Disorders
LeeyupChung, AlexraL.Bey, Yong-HuiJiang 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 10 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2012, Vol.16 No.6 1 369-378 (10 pages)
Analysis of synaptic plasticity together with behavioral and molecular studies have become a popular approach to model autism spectrum disorders in order to gain insight into the pathosphysiological mechanisms and to find therapeutic targets. Abnormalities of specific types of synaptic plasticity have been revealed in numerous genetically modified mice that have molecular construct validity to human autism spectrum disorders. Constrained by the feasibility of technique, the common regions... -
The Protective Effect of Eupatilin against Hydrogen Peroxide-Induced Injury Involving 5-Lipoxygenase in Feline Esophageal Epithelial Cells

level of leukotriene B4 (LTB4) was also reduced by eupatilin, SB202190, SP600125, NAC, or nordihydroguaiaretic acid (a lipoxygenase inhibitor) pretreatment. H2O2 induced the activation of p38MAPK and JNK, this activation was inhibited by eupatilin. These results indicate that eupatilin may reduce H2O2-induced cytotoxicity, and 5-lipoxygenase expression and LTB4 production by controlling the p38 MAPK and JNK signaling pathways through antioxidative action in feline esophageal epithelial cells. -

over a range of concentrations. However, there was no specific subset change. Ղ-glucan protected splenocytes from cytokine withdrawal-induced spontaneous cell death. For further mechanistic studies, ELISA assay revealed that Ղ-glucan enhanced the expression of anti-apoptotic molecules and interleukin 7 (IL-7), a cytokine critical for lymphocyte survival. We also investigated the IL-2 dependency of Ղ-glucan-treated splenocytes to determine if treated cells could still undergo... -
Tat-Mediated p66shc Transduction Decreased Phosphorylation of Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase in Endothelial Cells

in endothelial cells. Tat-mediated p66shc transduction showed increased hydrogen peroxide and superoxide production, compared with Tat-p66shc (S/A), serine 36 residue mutant of p66shc. Tat-mediated p66shc transduction decreased endothelial nitric oxide synthase phosphorylation in endothelial cells. Furthermore, Tat-mediated p66shc transduction augmented TNF-Ձ-induced p38 MAPK phosphorylation in endothelial cells. These results suggest that Tat-mediated p66shc transduction efficiently... -
Cilostazol Decreases Ethanol-Mediated TNFalpha Expression in RAW264.7 Murine Macrophage and in Liver from Binge Drinking Mice

which the increased production of tumor necrosis factor Ձ (TNFՁ) plays a critical role in progression of alcoholic liver disease. In the present study, we investigated the effects of cilostazol, a selective inhibitor of type III phosphodiesterase on ethanol-mediated TNFՁ production in vitro and in vivo, and the effect of cilostazol was compared with that of pentoxifylline, which is currently used in clinical trial. RAW264.7 murine macrophages were pretreated with ethanol in the... -

Alcohol abuse and its medical and social consequences are a major health problem in many areas of the world. The present study was conducted to evaluate the protective effect of methanolic fruit extract of Randia dumetorum (L.) on alcohol-induced liver damage in rats. Rats were divided into five different groups (n=6), group I served as a control, group II received ethanol (3 ml/100 g/day p.o.), group III served as standard group and received silymarin (50 mg/kg p.o.), group IV and V served as... -

lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated BV2 microglial cells. THC significantly suppressed LPS-induced excessive production of nitric oxide (NO) and expression of iNOS, which is responsible for the production of iNOS. THC also suppressed LPS-induced overproduction of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1Ղand TNF-Ձin BV2 microgilal cells. Furthermore, THC significantly suppressed LPS-induced degradation of IՊB, which retains NF-ՊB in the cytoplasm. Therefore, THC attenuated... -

The role of the kidney in combating metabolic acidosis has been a subject of considerable interest for many years. The present study was aimed to determine whether there is an altered regulation of renal acid base transporters in acute and chronic acid loading. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were used. Metabolic acidosis was induced by administration of NH4Cl for 2 days (acute) and for 7days (chronic). The serum and urinary pH and bicarbonate were measured. The protein expression of renal acid base...
