for each drug. The detection limit was defined as the drug concentration at which 95% of the test results were interpreted as positive. The limits of detection in liver tissue were 0.35 ?g/ml for furazolidone, 0.70 ?g/ml for sulfamethazine and 7.80 ?g/ ml for amprolium. In kidney tissues, they were 0.30 ?g/ml for furazolidone, 0.54 ?g/ml for sulfamethazine, and 7.6 ?g/ml for amprolium. It was concluded that this tube test could be used to screen for the residue of these three drugs in poultry. -

frequency increase of sPSCs was not affected by pretreated tetrodotoxin (0.5 mM). In addition, the frequency of sIPSCs in the presence of CNQX (10 mM) and AP5 (20 mM) was increased in 10 (53%) neurons, decreased in 1 (5%) neuron and not affected in 8 (42%) of 19 neurons tested by BoNT/A (3 nM). These results demonstrate that BoNT/ A increases the frequency of sIPSCs on SG neurons of the Vc at least partly and can provide an evidence for rapid action of BoNT/A at the central nervous system. -
Antidepressant drug paroxetine blocks the open pore of Kv3.1 potassium channel

of Kv3.1 channels was voltage-dependent even when the channels were fully open. The binding (k+1) and unbinding (k–1) rate constants for the paroxetine effect were 4.5 µM–1s–1 and 35.8 s–1, respectively, yielding a calculated KD value of 7.9 µM. The analyses of Kv3.1 tail current indicated that paroxetine did not affect ion selectivity and slowed its deactivation time course, resulting in a tail crossover phenomenon. Paroxetine inhibited Kv3.1 channels in a... -
Beauvericin, a cyclic peptide, inhibits inflammatory responses in macrophages by inhibiting the NF-κB pathway

morphological changes. This compound significantly inhibited nuclear translocation of the NF-κB subunits p65 and p50. Luciferase reporter gene assays demonstrated that BEA suppresses MyD88-dependent NF-κB activation. By analyzing upstream signaling events for NF-κB activation and overexpressing Src and Syk, these two enzymes were revealed to be targets of BEA. Together, these results suggest that BEA suppresses NF-κB-dependent inflammatory responses by suppressing both Src and Syk. -
Paracrine influence of human perivascular cells on the proliferation of adenocarcinoma alveolar epithelial cells

cells (A549) and erythroleukemia cells (TF-1α and K562) in vitro using TranswellⓇ co-culture systems. PVCs promoted the proliferation of A549 cells without inducing morphological changes, but had no effect on the proliferation of TF-1α and K562 cells. To identify the factors secreted from PVCs, conditioned media harvested from PVC cultures were analyzed by antibody arrays. We identified a set of cytokines, including persephin (PSPN), a neurotrophic factor, and a key regulator of oral... -
Ca2+ is a Regulator of the WNK/OSR1/NKCC Pathway in a Human Salivary Gland Cell Line

a cyclopiazonic acid-induced passive [Ca2+]i elevation was evoked by the phosphorylation of OSR1, and the amount of phosphorylated OSR1 decreased when the cells were treated with BAPTA, a Ca2+ chelator. Finally, through that process, NKCC1 activity also decreased to maintain the cell volume in the HSG cell line. These results indicate that Ca2+ may regulate the WNK-OSR1 pathway and NKCC1 activity in the HSG cell line. This is the first demonstration that indicates upstream Ca2+ regulation of the... -
Activation of the cGMP/Protein Kinase G Pathway by Nitric Oxide Can Decrease TRPV1 Activity in Cultured Rat Dorsal Root Ganglion Neurons

the inhibitory effect of SNP on Icap. Membrane-permeable cGMP analogs, 8-bromoguanosine 3', 5'-cyclic monophosphate (8bromo-cGMP) and 8-(4chlorophenylthio)-guanosine 3',5'-cyclic monophosphate (8-pCPT-cGMP), and the guanylyl cyclase stimulator YC-1 mimicked the effect of SNP on Icap. The PKG inhibitor KT5823 prevented the inhibition of Icap by SNP. These results suggest that NO can downregulate the function of TRPV1 through activation of the cGMP/PKG pathway in peripheral sensory neurons. -
Provinol Inhibits Catecholamine Secretion from the Rat Adrenal Medulla

of polyphenolic compounds from red wine, on the secretion of catecholamines (CA) from isolated perfused rat adrenal medulla, and to elucidate its mechanism of action. Provinol (0.3∼3Ռg/ml) perfused into an adrenal vein for 90 min dose- and time-dependently inhibited the CA secretory responses evoked by ACh (5.32 mM), high K+ (a direct membrane-depolarizer, 56 mM), DMPP (a selective neuronal nicotinic NN receptor agonist, 100ՌM) and McN-A-343 (a selective muscarinic M1 receptor...
