Variations in lateral abdominal muscle thickness during abdominal drawing-in maneuver in three positions in a young healthy population
Young Jun Ko, Hyun Geun Ha, Ju ri Jeong, Wan Hee Lee 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 6 Pages
4 101-106 (6 pages)
Objective: To investigate the appropriate position for abdominal drawing-in maneuver (ADIM) exercise by rehabilitative ultrasound image. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Twenty-eight young adults with no history of low back pain participated in the study. Three positions compared were crook lying position with hip 60o flexion, standing position with the feet hip width apart and knees straight, and saddle standing positionunsupported with the knees 20° flexed. Once in the appropriate... -
Effects of forward & backward walking training with progressive body weight supported on stroke patients’ ambulatory ability
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 9 Pages
1 77-85 (9 pages)
Objective: In the present study, the effects of progressive body weight support treadmill forward & backward walking training (FBWT), progressive body weight support treadmill forward walking training (FWT), and progressive body weight support treadmill backward walking training (BWT), and on stroke patients’ ambulatory abilities were examined. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Methods: A total of 36 chronic stroke patients were divided into three groups with 12 subjects in each group. Each... -
Kinematic analysis of rowing exercise using a motor-assisted rowing machine for rowers with spinal cord injury
Ju Ri Jeong, Bum Suk Lee, Dae-Sung Park 물리치료재활과학회 Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 7 Pages
12 69-75 (7 pages)
Objective: We developed a Motor-Assisted Rowing Machine (MARM) for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), by modification of the Concept II rowing machine, so that the seats could be operated automatically in a backward and forward direction by a motor. Design: Case report. Methods: Motor rowing consisted of a chair with inclination control, a motor system, control button, monitor, program, leg supporter, safety belt, and seat. The patients were 2 men rowing athletes with SCI, classified as American Spinal... -
Immediate effects of single-leg stance exercise on dynamic balance, weight bearing and gait cycle in stroke patients
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 6 Pages
9 49-54 (6 pages)
The ST showed significant findings for all conditions (p<0.05). Therefore, knee extension and flexion exercise on the affected side single-leg stance (condition 4) significantly improved dynamic balance and weight bearing on the affected side (p<0.05). In the condition of moving the knee joint in a single-leg stance was discovered that the stance phase time significantly increased more than in the condition of supporting the maximal voluntary weight on the affected side (p<0.05). Conclusions:... -
Immediate effects of a neurodynamic sciatic nerve sliding technique on hamstring flexibility and postural balance in healthy adults

twenty four healthy adults (16 men, 8 women). A neurodynamic sciatic nerve sliding technique was applied 5 times to all subjects’ dominant leg. The subjects were asked to sit on the bed while performing cervical and thoracic flexion, as well as knee flexion with ankle plantar flexion. Then, they were asked to perform cervical and thoracic extension and knee extension with their ankle in dorsiflexion and maintain the position for 60 s. For postural balance, we measured postural sway while the... -

TNF-α production in the presence of LPS was also inhibited in a dose dependent manner (p<0.05 from 30 mW/cm2). IL-1 production in the presence of LPS was inhibited as well (p<0.05 from 7.5 mW/cm2). Conclusions: Our results demonstrate that US was the anti-inflammatory effect of chondrocytes. LIPUS may exert its anti inflammatory effects through inhibition of TNF-α and IL-1 synthesis. These results suggest that US have potential for use as a pain relief and reduce the articular destruction. -
The effect of a water exercise on gait characteristics in the elderly post stroke patients
Physical Therapy Rehabilitation Science 5 Pages
4 17-21 (5 pages)
Objective: To investigate the effect of long-term water exercise on gait parameters in the elderly post stroke patients. Design: One group pretest-posttest design. Methods: Twenty elderly post stroke patients (age: 56.5±10.1 years, height: 168.6±5.8 cm, body mass: 69.3±6.9 kg, handicapped level: 2.5±0.8) participated in this study. Participants took part in gait training of 1 hour per day, three days per week, for three months. Participants’ gaits were analyzed to find the effect of 3... -

This study was conducted to identify the effectiveness of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and efficacy of intralesional injection as a method of application to acute cutaneous wounds in dogs. Healthy adult beagles (n = 3) were used in this study. Autologous PRP was separated from anticoagulant treated whole blood in three dogs. Cutaneous wounds were created and then treated by intralesional injection of PRP in the experimental group, while they were treated with saline in the control group on days 0,... -

for the owners. Follow-up (at 1, 3, and 12 months postoperative) confirmed significant improvement in all patients, especially at 1 month postoperatively (p < 0.01) and again after complete stifle joint assessment at 3 months postoperatively. After 12 months, only two patients showed a slight increase in osteoarthritis. According to our results, BFT is a simple extracapsular surgical technique that can be used for the treatment of cranial cruciate ligament rupture in small breed dogs.
