Sung-MinHwang, Na-YounKoo, Se-YoungChoi, Gae-SigChun, Joong-SooKim, KyungpyoPark 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 5 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2009, Vol.13 No.3 6 175-179 (5 pages)
High concentrations of ATP induce membrane blebbing. However, the underlying mechanism involved in epithelial cells remains unclear. In this study, we investigated the role of the P2X7 receptor (P2X7R) in membrane blebbing using Par C5 cells. We stimulated the cells with 5 mM of ATP for 1∼2 hrs and found the characteristics of membrane blebbing, a hallmark of apoptotic cell death. In addition, 500ՌM Bz-ATP, a specific P2X7R agonist, induced membrane blebbing. However, 300ՌM of... -

The effects of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (OxLDL) and its major lipid constituent lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) on Ca2+ entry were investigated in cultured human umbilical endothelial cells (HUVECs) using fura-2 fluorescence and patch-clamp methods. OxLDL or LPC increased intracellular Ca2+ concentration ([Ca2+]i), and the increase of [Ca2+]i by OxLDL or by LPC was inhibited by La3+ or heparin. LPC failed to increase [Ca2+]i in the presence of an antioxidant tempol. In addition,... -
Resveratrol Inhibits Nicotinic Stimulation-Evoked Catecholamine Release from the Adrenal Medulla

대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2008, Vol.12 No.4 5 155-164 (10 pages)
Resveratrol has been known to possess various potent cardiovascular effects in animal, but there is little information on its functional effect on the secretion of catecholamines (CA) from the perfused model of the adrenal medulla. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determine the effect of resveratrol on the CA secretion from the isolated perfused model of the normotensive rat adrenal gland, and to elucidate its mechanism of action. Resveratrol (10∼100ՌM) during perfusion into... -
Post-ischemic Time-dependent Activity Changes of Hippocampal CA1 cells of the Mongolian Gerbils
Moo-HoWon, Hyung-CheulShin 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 4 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2007, Vol.11 No.6 3 249-252 (4 pages)
Changes of single unit activity of CA1 hippocampus region were investigated in anesthetized Mongolian gerbils for six days following transient ischemia. Ischemia was produced immediately before the implantation of micro-wire recording electrodes. In control animals receiving pseudo-ischemic surgery, neither spontaneous neuronal activities (5.70±0.4 Hz) nor the number of recorded neurons per animal changed significantly for six days. Correlative firings among simultaneously recorded neurons... -
Tetanus-induced LTD of Developing MNTB-LSO Synapses in Rat is Dependent on Postsynaptic Ca2+

Because synaptic refinement of medial nucleus of trapezoid body (MNTB) - lateral superior olive (LSO) synapses is most active during the first postnatal week and the long term depression (LTD) has been suggested as one of its mechanisms, LTD of MNTB-LSO synapses was investigated in neonatal rat brain stem slices with the whole cell voltage clamp technique. In Mg2 free condition, tetanus (10 stimuli at 10 Hz for 2 min) in the current clamp mode induced a robust LTD of isolated D,... -
Regional Differences in Mitochondrial Anti-oxidant State during Ischemic Preconditioning in Rat Heart
VuThiThu, DangVanCuong, NariKim, JaeBoumYoum, MohamadWarda, WonSunPark, JaeHongKo, EuiyongKim, JinHan 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2007, Vol.11 No.2 3 57-64 (8 pages)
Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) is known to protect the heart against ischemia/reperfusion (IR)-induced injuries, and regional differences in the mitochondrial antioxidant state during IR or IPC may promote the death or survival of viable and infarcted cardiac tissues under oxidative stress. To date, however, the interplay between the mitochondrial antioxidant enzyme system and the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body has not yet been resolved. In the present study, we examined the... -
Gene Expression Profile in Microglia following Ischemia- Reperfusion Injury
JuHyeonOh, HyungSooHan, JaeSikPark 대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 8 Pages
대한생리학회-대한약리학회 The Korean Journal of Physiology & Pharmacology 2006, Vol.10 No.4 2 173-180 (8 pages)
Microglial activation is thought to play a role in the pathogenesis of many brain disorders. Therefore, understanding the response of microglia to noxious stimuli may provide insights into their role in disorders such as stroke and neurodegeneration. Many genes involved in this response have been identified individually, but not systematically. In this regards, the microarray system permitted to screen a large number of genes in biological or pathological processes. Therefore, we used microarray... -

Voltage-sensitive release mechanism was pharmacologically dissected from the Ca2-induced Ca2 release in the SR Ca2 release in the rat ventricular myocytes patch-clamped in a whole-cell mode. SR Ca2 release process was monitored by using forward-mode Na-Ca2 exchange after restriction of the interactions between Ca2 from SR and Na-Ca2 exchange within micro-domains with heavy cytosolic Ca2 buffering with 10 mM BAPTA. During... -
