Krishnan Giribabu, Sung-Chan Jang, Yuvaraj Haldorai, Muruganantham Rethinasabapathy, Seo Yeong Oh, Arunkumar Rengaraj, Young-Kyu Han 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.23 6 38-47 (10 pages)
In this study, magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles were electrochemically synthesized in an aqueous electrolyte at a given potential of -1.3 V for 180 s. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that dendrite-like Fe3O4 nanoparticles with a mean size of < 80 nm were electrodeposited on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The Fe3O4/GCE was utilized for sensing chloramphenicol (CAP) by cyclic voltammetry and square wave voltammetry. A reduction peak of CAP at the Fe3O4/GCE was observed at 0.62 V, whereas... -
Adsorption characteristics of heavy metals ions by physical activation on coal tar pitch-based activated carbon fibers

Due to the increasing population growth of modern society, along with rapid industrial development and urbanization, environmental pollution continues to worsen and has become an important issue, not only domestically but also worldwide. In particular, toxic substances such as heavy metal ions are present in the wastewater produced by various industries. This wastewater flows into rivers, pollutes water supplies, and can contaminate the drinking water supplied to people [1-3]. Powder or... -
Nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets from polyurethane foams and removal of Cr(VI)
Jiaqi Duan, Baohua Zhang, Huailin Fan, Wenzhong Shen, Shijie Qu 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 10 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 7 60-69 (10 pages)
Nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets with a developed porous structure were prepared from polyurethane foams by hydrothermal carbonization following ZnCl2 chemical activation. Scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, solid state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were used to characterize the nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheet structure and composition. The removal of Cr(VI) by the N-doped carbon... -
Kinetic and multi-parameter isotherm studies of picric acid removal from aqueous solutions by carboxylated multi-walled carbon nanotubes in the presence and absence of ultrasound
Soheila Gholitabar, Hasan Tahermansouri 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 11 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.22 2 14-24 (11 pages)
Carboxylated multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs-COOH) have been used as efficient adsorbents for the removal of picric acid from aqueous solutions under stirring and ultrasound conditions. Batch experiments were conducted to study the influence of the different parameters such as pH, amount of adsorbents, contact time and concentration of picric acid on the adsorption process. The kinetic data were fitted with pseudo-first order, pseudo-secondorder, Elovich and intra-particle diffusion models.... -
Removal of chromium from tannery wastewater by electrosorption on carbon prepared from peach stones: effect of applied potential

at 900°C. The characterization of the carbon material resulted in properties comparable to those of many coals industrially manufactured. The study of the dynamic adsorption of chromium on the obtained material resulted in a low removal rate (33.7%) without applied potential. The application of negative potentials of -0.7 V and -1.4 increases the adsorption of chromium up to 90% and 96% respectively. Whereas a positive potential of +1.4V allows desorption of the contaminant of 138%. -
Synthesize multi-walled carbon nanotubes via catalytic chemical vapour deposition method on Fe-Ni bimetallic catalyst supported on kaolin
Aliyu A, Abdulkareem AS, Kovo AS, Abubakre OK, Tijani JO, Kariim I 한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 18 Pages
한국탄소학회 Carbon Letters 2017, Vol.21 5 33-50 (18 pages)
In this study, Fe-Ni bimetallic catalyst supported on kaolin is prepared by a wet impregnation method. The effects of mass of kaolin support, pre-calcination time, pre-calcination temperature and stirring speed on catalyst yields are examined. Then, the optimal supported Fe-Ni catalyst is utilised to produce multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) using catalytic chemical vapour deposition (CCVD) method. The catalysts and MWCNTs prepared using the optimal conditions are characterized using high... -

as a function of the amount of the electrodeposited Co. It was also found that, after the end of the dissolution process, a certain amount of cobalt remains on the graphene in oxide form (this was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), as suggested by the magnetic measurements. This oxide tends to exhibit a limited asymptotic amount when cycling through the deposition/dissolution process for increasing deposition times, possibly indicating that the oxidation process is similar to the... -

on a conventional thermal process at high temperature (typically above 900°C), are time- and energy-consuming processes. In order to oligomerize or polymerize the carbon precursors before the carbonization, an aging process should also be carried out in the presence of acid catalysts in low temperature ranges of 100°C?200°C. In the case of sucrose as a carbon source, sulfuric acid (H2SO4) is typically used as an acid catalyst for the dehydration and subsequent oligomerization of the carbon... -

Activated carbon was synthesized from coconut shells. The Brunauer, Emmett and Teller surface area of the synthesized activated carbon was found to be 1640 m2/g with a pore volume of 1.032 cm3/g. The average pore diameter of the activated carbon was found to be 2.52 nm. By applying the size-strain plot method to the X-ray diffraction data, the crystallite size and the crystal strain was determined to be 42.46 nm and 0.000489897, respectively, which indicate a perfect crystallite structure. The... -

DC shows very low surface area (6.1 m2/g) while AC possesses very high surface area (829 m2/g). The removal of lisinopril (LIS) and chlorpheniramine (CP) from an aqueous solution was tested at different pH, contact time, concentration, and temperature on both carbons. The optimal initial pH for LIS removal was 4.0 and 5.0 for DC and AC, respectively. However, for CP, initial pH 9.0 showed maximum adsorption on both carbons. Adsorption kinetics showed faster removal on AC than DC with adsorption...
