This report describes the usefulness of positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) for evaluating recurrent or residual tumors following surgery. CT and F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET-CT were pre- and post-operatively applied to multiple masses in a dog with hemangiosarcoma. The distinction between the left subcutaneous mass and the peritoneum was clarified on pre-operative CT examination, and malignancy was suspected based on PET-CT. A recurrent or residual tumor in the left... -

= 3), osteosarcoma (n = 2), osteoma (n = 1), rhabdomyosarcoma (n = 1), and nephroblastoma (n = 1). Thirteen cases underwent surgical operation and the remaining six cases were euthanized at the request of the owners. The neurological status of the surgical cases did not deteriorate, except for one dog that showed ependymoma in the early period after the operation. These results indicate the potential for surgical gross total tumor removal of vertebral tumors to provide better quality of life and... -
Quercetin improves the in vitro development of porcine oocytes by decreasing reactive oxygen species levels
Jung-Taek Kang, Dae-Kee Kwon, Sol-Ji Park, Su-Jin Kim, Joon-Ho Moon, Ok-Jae Koo, Goo Jang, Byeong-Chun Lee* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 6 Pages

Quercetin is a plant-derived flavonoid found in fruits or vegetables that has antioxidant properties and acts as a free radical scavenger. We investigated the effects of quercetin on porcine oocyte nuclear maturation and embryonic development after parthenogenetic activation. We then evaluated the antioxidant activities of quercetin by measuring reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in matured oocytes. Immature oocytes were untreated or treated with 1, 10, and 50 ug/mL quercetin during in vitro... -
Evidence for estrogen receptor expression during medullary bone formation and resorption in estrogen―treated male Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica)
Shinji Hiyama*, Toshie Sugiyama, Seiji Kusuhara, Takashi Uchida 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 5 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2012, 제 13권 제 3호 2 223-227 (5 pages)
The temporal expression of estrogen receptor (ER)―a and ER―b mRNA was examined in male Japanese quails. Femurs of quails receiving 17b―estradiol underwent RT―PCR and histochemical analysis 1 to 15 days after treatment. Untreated quails were used as controls (day 0). Between days 0 and 5, cells lining the bone endosteal surface differentiated into osteoblasts, which in turn formed medullary bone. Expression of ER―a was already observed on day 0 and increased slightly during bone formation... -

This study aimed to assess the influence of lobectomy and pneumonectomy on cardiac rhythm and on the dimensions and function of the right-side of the heart. Twelve dogs undergoing lobectomy and eight dogs undergoing pneumonectomy were evaluated preoperatively and one month postoperatively with electrocardiography and Doppler echocardiography at rest. Pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) was estimated by the tricuspid regurgitation jet (TRJ) via the pulse wave Doppler velocity method.... -
Clinical findings, rhinoscopy and histological evaluation of 54 dogs with chronic nasal disease
Marco Pietra, Giuseppe Spinella*, Flavio Pasquali, Noemi Romagnoli, Giuliano Bettini, Alessandro Spadari 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2010, 제 11권 제 3호 11 249-255 (7 pages)
Nasal diseases are very common in dogs and rhinoscopy is often required for a definitive diagnosis. Rhinoscopy, while superficial in nature, can guide the clinician to the final diagnosis. In this study, rhinoscopy was performed on 54 dogs with symptoms of chronic nasopharyngeal disease. The endoscopic diagnosis of neoplasia or chronic nasal inflammation was validated with histological examination of pathological samples, in order to evaluate the degree of concordance between endoscopic findings... -
Multilobular tumour of the caudal cranium causing severe cerebral and cerebellar compression in a dog
Vassilios Psychas, Panayiotis Loukopoulos*, Zoe S. Polizopoulou, Georgios Sofianidis 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2009, 제 10권 제 1호 13 81-84 (4 pages)
Multilobular tumour of bone (MTB) is an uncommon tumour and is usually located in the skull. A 13-year-old mixed breed dog was presented with a two-week history of progressively worsening vestibular dysfunction and cognitive abnormalities; it appeared demented and showed asymmetric ataxia and hypermetria of all limbs. The owner opted to have the animal euthanised. Necropsy revealed a large mass occupying the right occipital, parietal and temporal bones, severely compressing the cerebellum and... -
Multilobular tumor of the mandible in a Pekingese dog
Bidur Pakhrin, Il-Hong Bae, Hyang Jee, Min-Soo Kang, Dae-Yong Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2006, 제 7권 제 3호 15 297-298 (2 pages)
Multilobular tumor of bone detected in a 2.5-year-old male Pekingese dog is reported. Grossly, the neoplasm consisted of multiple, variably sized, gritty, grayish-white to yellow nodules separated by thick collagenous septa. Histologically, these nodules contained multiple lobules of irregularly shaped and sized islands of well-differentiated osteoid and cartilage, separated by anastomosing fibrovascular septa. Chondrocytes and osteocytes were observed in the lacunae and in more osseous islands... -

Panayiotis Loukopoulos, Hock Gan Heng, Habibah Arshad 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 2호 13 173-180 (8 pages)
The clinical, radiological and pathologic features of a biphasic synovial sarcoma in the left elbow joint of a two-year-old male Rottweiler are presented. The tumor showed positive immunoreactivity for vimentin, Epithelial Membrane Antigen (EMA), p53 and PCNA, while it was negative for the cytokeratin used, S-100, Rb and p21. Immunohistochemistry for EMA allowed the identification of epithelioid components of synovial sarcoma, and may, therefore, contribute in establishing a diagnosis of... -
