Upon realising the importance of early childhood education for the nation’s development, Malaysian government began to enhance the quality of the ECCE curriculum through policies and legislation. Such developments are evident in the government agenda and several initiatives, including the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) in the 11th Malaysia Plan, the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and the Education Blueprint 2013-2025. Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 16 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2020, Vol.14 No.2 9 179-194 (16 pages)

Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 26 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2020, Vol.14 No.2 1 1-26 (26 pages)
classroom teachers nested in 40 preschools were provided with a play-like scenario where they need to recognize mathematical concepts and effective questioning strategies during children s play. Findings from Latent Profile Analysis indicated that the three facets of PCK in early mathematics are distinct sets of knowledge and skills that are qualitatively different. This finding calls for more intervention research on supporting Korean preschool teachers’ multifaceted PCK in early mathematics. -

Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 24 Pages
Asia-Pacific journal of research in early childhood education 2020, Vol.14 No.1 8 169-192 (24 pages)
There is a growing attention for parent involvement in education in general and in early childhood education in particular. The vast majority of scholarly literature is published in English language and originates from Western countries. There is a risk that this may lead to the assumption that mainstream ideas in international literature are globally valid and come to dominate those of other countries, despite cultural differences. We conducted a systematic review of Chinese literature on... -
