Isolation and Genomic Characterization of the T4-Like Bacteriophage PM2 Infecting Pectobacterium carotovorum subsp. carotovorum
The Plant Pathology Journal 7 Pages
11 83-89 (7 pages)
170,286 base pair genome that encodes 291 open reading frames (ORFs) and 12 tRNAs. Most ORFs in bacteriophage PM2 share a high level of homology with T4-like phages including IME08, RB69, and JS98. Phylogenetic analysis based on the amino acid sequence of terminase large subunits confirmed that PM2 is classified as a T4-like phage. It contains no integrase- or no repressor-coding genes related to the lysogenic cycle, and lifestyle prediction using PHACT software suggested that PM2 is a virulent... -

Bacteriophage Usage for Bacterial Disease Management and Diagnosis in Plants
The Plant Pathology Journal 14 Pages
2 204-217 (14 pages)
In nature, plants are always under the threat of pests and diseases. Pathogenic bacteria are one of the ma- jor pathogen types to cause diseases in diverse plants, resulting in negative effects on plant growth and crop yield. Chemical bactericides and antibiotics have been used as major approaches for controlling bacterial plant diseases in the field or greenhouse. However, the appearance of resistant bacteria to common antibiot- ics and bactericides as well as their potential negative effects... -
Characterization of the Lytic Bacteriophage phiEaP-8 Effective against Both Erwinia amylovora and Erwinia pyrifoliae Causing Severe Diseases in Apple and Pear

10 445-450 (6 pages)
biological control tool for preventing bacterial pathogens. Erwinia amylovora and E. pyrifoliae cause fire blight and black shoot blight disease in apple and pear, respectively. In this study, the bacteriophage phiEaP-8 was isolated from apple orchard soil and could efficiently and specifically kill both E. amylovora and E. pyrifoliae. This bacteriophage belongs to the Podoviridae family. Whole genome analysis revealed that phiEaP-8 carries a 75,929 bp genomic DNA with 78 coding sequences and 5... -
Mitomycin C에 의해 유도되는 Bacillus cirulans F-2의 Bacteriophage-like 입자

1990, Vol.18 No.3 221-226 (6 pages)
Production and immunogenicity of chimeric virus-like particles containing the spike glycoprotein of infectious bronchitis virus
Lishan Lv, Xiaoming Li, Genmei Liu, Ran Li, Qiliang Liu, Huifang Shen, Wei Wang, Chunyi Xue, Yongchang Cao* 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
6 209-216 (8 pages)
Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) poses a severe threat to the poultry industry and causes heavy economic losses worldwide. Vaccination is the most effective method of preventing infection and controlling the spread of IBV, but currently available inactivated and attenuated virus vaccines have some disadvantages. We developed a chimeric virus-like particle (VLP)-based candidate vaccine for IBV protection. The chimeric VLP was composed of matrix 1 protein from avian influenza H5N1 virus and a... -
Efficacy of VP2 protein expressed in E. coli for protection against highly virulent infectious bursal disease virus
Abdul Rahman Omar, Chong Lee Kim, Mohd Hair Bejo, Aini Ideris 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
6 241-247 (7 pages)
The ability of a heat-inactivated whole virus from a highly virulent infectious bursal disease virus (hvIBDV) and VP2 protein from hvIBDV expressed in E. coli provided protection against a hvIBDV challenge in specificpathogen- free (SPF) chickens. Six out of seven chickens that were injected three times with crude VP2 protein developed significant antibody titer against IBDV. However, only four out of the seven chickens survived the hvIBDV challenge. Despite showing low antibody titer profiles,...
