Molecular characterization of Korean rabies virus isolates
Dong-Kun Yang*, Young-Nam Park, Gyeong-Soo Hong, Hee-Kyung Kang, Yoon-I Oh, Soo-Dong Cho, Jae-Young Song 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2011, 제 12권 제 1호 9 57-63 (7 pages)
The nucleoprotein (N) and glycoprotein (G) of 11 Korean rabies virus (RABV) isolates collected from animals diagnosed with rabies between 2008 and 2009 were subjected to molecular and phylogenetic analyses. Six isolates originated from domestic animals (cattle and dogs) and five were obtained from wild free-ranging raccoon dogs. The similarities in the nucleotide sequences of the N gene among all Korean isolates ranged from 98.1 to 99.8%, while those of the G gene ranged from 97.9 to 99.3%.... -

was 78.5%. To characterize the genetic diversity of BBWV2 Korean isolates, 7 isolates were fully sequenced and analyzed. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that BBWV2 isolates could be divided largely into two groups as Group I and Group II. Based on the partial sequence analyses, 153 selected BBWV2 isolates were subgrouped into GS-I (21.6%), GS-II (3.9%) and GS-III (56.9%). BBWV2 GS-III, which was predominant in Korea, appears to be a new combination between Group I RNA-1 and Group II RNA-2. Viral... -

are thirty eight volumes of Korean fairy tales and analyzes using content analysis. The findings of this study are as follows. Firstly, the categories of prosocial behavior in Korean fairy tales are helping, no greed, pietyA, sharing, brotherhood, cooperation, no stealing, sincerity, keeping prornise. and etc. Secondly, the values and attitudes of prosocial behavior lies the promotion of virtue and reproval of vice thinking of rewarding the good and punishing the wicked, life respect, returning... -
Combining the New with the Old : Collecting Contemporary Korean Art at the Victoria& Albert Museum
the V &A is probably better known for its Koryo celadons and Choson ceramics than for its late 20th century artifacts. Yet, the museum began acquiring contemporary Korean art already in 1991 when preparing for the opening of the Samsung Gallery of Korean Art. Since that time the collection has been growing on a yearly basis, and now amounts to around 100 objects of varying media. The following will discuss to which extent these objects hold a significant place within the museum already extensive... -
Association between endotoxin levels in dust from indoor swine housing environments and the immune responses of pigs
Katharine Roque, Kyung Min Shin, Ji Hoon Jo, Gyeong Dong Lim, Eun Seob Song, So Jung Shin, Ravi Gautam, Jae Hee Lee, Yeon Gyeong Kim, Ah 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2018, 제 19권 제 3호 2 331-338 (8 pages)
Indoor animal husbandry environments are inevitably contaminated with endotoxins. Endotoxin exposure is associated with various inflammatory illnesses in animals. This cross-sectional study evaluated the relationship between the degree of endotoxin exposure and the cellular and humoral immune profiles of fattening pigs. Blood samples were taken from the jugular vein of 47 pigs from ten pig farms in Korea. Whole blood cell counts and plasma immunoglobulin (Ig) classes were determined.... -
Integrated analysis of microRNA and mRNA expressions in peripheral blood leukocytes of Warmblood horses before and after exercise
Hang-Ah Kim, Myung-Chul Kim, Na-Yon Kim, Doug-Young Ryu, Hong-Seok Lee, Yongbaek Kim 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2018, 제 19권 제 1호 13 99-106 (8 pages)
Exercise capacity is a valuable trait in horses, and it has been used as a horse selection criterion. Although exercise affects molecular homeostasis and adaptation in horses, the mechanisms underlying these effects are not fully described. This study was carried out to identify changes in the blood profiles of microRNAs (miRNAs) and mRNAs induced by exercise in horse leukocytes. Total RNAs isolated from the peripheral blood leukocytes of four Warmblood horses before and after exercise were... -
Bovine adenovirus type 3 virions cannot be rescued in vivo after full-length viral genome transfection in the absence of detectable polypeptide IX
Peng Zhang, Qinghong Xue, Jing Ma, Jingjing Ren, Shuili Xia, Lu Zhang, Wenbin Wang, Suresh K. Tikoo, Enqi Du 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 11 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2017, 제 18권 제 2호 12 217-227 (11 pages)
Bovine adenovirus type 3 (BAdV3) is being used in the development of potential vehicles for gene therapy and vectored vaccine. To that end, a more comprehensive description of BAdV3 biology is essential. In this study, we focused on the role of pIX in BAdV3 virion rescue after full-length BAdV3 genome transfection. Initially, pIX deletion or initiation codon mutation abolished the production of progeny virions, which suggested that pIX was essential for the rescue of BAdV3 containing a... -
Effect of donor age on the proliferation and multipotency of canine adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells
Jienny Lee, Keum Sil Lee, Chan-Lan Kim, Jeong Su Byeon, Na-Yeon Gu, In-Soo Cho, Sang-Ho Cha 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 8 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2017, 제 18권 제 2호 3 141-148 (8 pages)
Research into adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) has demonstrated the feasibility of their use in clinical applications due to their ease of isolation and abundance in adipose tissue. We isolated AD-MSCs from young and old dogs, and the cells were subjected to sequential sub-passaging from passage 1 (P1) to P7. Canine AD-MSCs (cAD-MSCs) were examined for proliferation kinetics, expression of molecules associated with self-renewal, expression of cell surface markers, and... -
Inhibition by miR-410 facilitates direct retinal pigment epithelium differentiation of umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells
Soon Won Choi, Jae-Jun Kim, Min-Soo Seo, Sang-Bum Park, Tae-Hoon Shin, Ji-Hee Shin, Yoojin Seo, Hyung-Sik Kim, Kyung-Sun Kang 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 7 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2017, 제 18권 제 1호 8 59-65 (7 pages)
Retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) is a major component of the eye. This highly specialized cell type facilitates maintenance of the visual system. Because RPE loss induces an irreversible visual impairment, RPE generation techniques have recently been investigated as a potential therapeutic approach to RPE degeneration. A microRNA-based technique is a new strategy for producing RPE cells from adult stem cell sources. Previously, we identified that antisense microRNA-410 (anti-miR-410) induces RPE...
