effects on microbial succession in the rhizosphere are poorly understood. In this study, the inoculants of Bacillus mesonae strain H20-5 were administered to tomato plants grown in soils with different salinity levels (EC of 2, 4, and 6 dS/m). The bacterial communities in the bulk and rhizosphere soils were examined 14 days after H20-5 treatment using Illumina MiSeq sequencing of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene. Although the abundance of H20-5 rapidly decreased in the bulk and rhizosphere soils, a... -

A monoclonal antibody-based flow-through immunoassay (FTA) was developed using a nitrocellulose membrane placed on the top of adsorbent pads enclosed in a plastic cassette with a test zone at the center. The FTA could be completed within 10 min. Clear purple dots against a white background indicated the presence of Aphanomyces (A.) invadans. The FTA limit of detection was 7 μg/mL for A.invadans compared to 56 μg/mL for the immunodot. FTA and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) could detect... -
Variation in the molecular weight of Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida antigens when cultured under different conditions in vitro

bacteria cultured in TSB or GRM. When bacteria were passaged several times on tryptic soya agar prior to culturing in the four different media, only bands at 24 and 47 kDa were recognized, regardless of the medium used to culture the bacteria. It would appear that the molecular weight of Ph. d. subsp. piscicida antigens change in the presence of iron restriction, and sera from sea bass infected with live bacteria are able to detect epitopes on the antigens after this shift in molecular weight. -
Effect of ultraviolet radiation on the hatchability and survival of eggs and larvae of sheep nematode
Isaiah Oluwafemi Ademola and Janet Ayobami Ademola 대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 4 Pages
대한수의학회 Journal of Veterinary Science 2004, 제 5권 제 1호 8 59-62 (4 pages)
The hatchability of sheep gastrointestinal nematode eggs exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation and the activity of the hatched larvae were examined. Hatchability decreased with increasing exposure to radiation. The difference in hatchabilityof eggs irradiated for 15,30 and 60 minutes were highly significant (p < 0.01 dα = 3.07, 3.24 and 3.75) compared with the hatchability of the nonirradiated eggs. The life span of irradiated larvae was shortened, only 20% of those expose to UV... -

Physiological and Biochemical Changes in Lucerne (Medicago sativa) Plants Infected with ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma australasia’-Related Strain (16SrII-D Subgroup)

Changes in physiological and biochemical patterns in lucerne plants caused by the presence of ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma australasia’, which is one of the significant pathogens causing yield losses in lucerne plants, were investigated. Significant differences were evident in total chlorophyll, chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and protein amounts between ‘Ca. Phytoplasma australasia’- positive and negative lucerne plants. Stress-related metabolites such as phenol, malondialdehyde, and proline...
