교대근무는 24시간 의료를 제공해야 하는 간호사에게 필수적인 근무 형태이다[1]. 그러나 교대근무는 개인 고유의 일주기 리듬(circadian rhythm)을 교란시켜 생물학적, 심리사회적인 변화와 건강문제를 야기 할 수 있으며[2], 이러한 건강문제 중 하나가 수면 문제이다[3]. 교대근무는 불규칙한 수면 양상을 유발하고, 수면의 질을 저하 시킨다. 수면 부족은 휴식을 취하더라도 그 여파가 2-3일 지속되므로 간호사의 피로를 누적 시킬 수 있다. -
