C.I. Disperse Red 15(60710) and yellow 3(11855) were purified by column chromatography, and dye purity was compared with the one obtained by solvent recrystallization, using melting point measurement and infra-red adsorption spectrum analysis. The authors used the following composition of column chromatographic system for the convenience of separating dye ingredients; 1. alumina; adsorbent. 2. benzene-pyridine(4:1) mixture; solvent for stationary phase. 3. water-pyridine(2:7) mixture; solvent for mobile phase. It is thought that the column chromatography in dye Purification is a suitable method, in case the recrystallization method is not applicable.
