A case of pseudomyxama peritonei probably due to ruptured appendiceal mucocele associated with multiple cartilagenous exostosis was observed on Jan. 6, 1986 at Chonnam Univ. Hospital in a 28 year old mald whose chif complaints were abdominal distention, severe abdominal pain, tenderness in the right lower quadrant, vomiting, fever elevation, and palpable soft masses in the abdomen. The patient received three times of operation, irrigaton of the peritoneal cavity by Nitromin on operation, and injection of Nitromin post-operatively for 4 years and 9 months duration from Jan. 6, 1968 to October 5, 1972 and is still active in his daily works at the present moment. Pathophysiology, etiological diseases, incidence, age and sex distribution, pathology, major clinical symptoms and signs, and treatment and prognosis of pseudomyxoma peritonei are discussed with a review of literature.
