누에 (Bombyx mori L.)을 재료로 하여 탈피시 새큐티클에 근육이 부착하는 과정을 전자현미경으로 관찰하였다. 근육이 부착되는 부위의 큐티클은 다른 부위와는 그 형성과정이 형태적으로 크게 다르다. 연접된 상피세포의 미세융모가 잘 발달되어 있었고 근육부착에 관여하리라 생각되는 전자밀도가 매우 높은 과립을 분비하고 있었다. 근육과 연접된 상피세포는 desmosome을 형성하고 있었고 전자밀도가 서로 다른 여러층으로 구성되어 있었으며 이곳으로 부터 뻗어나온 장원섬유가 상피세포를 가로질러 뻗어 나가게 되며 Z-line과 같은 위치에서 형성되는 것으로 추측된다. 장원섬유는 상피세포의 외측원형질막이 깊게 함입하여 형성한 hemidesmosome과 연결되며 이곳에서는 새로운 섬유가 뻗어 나가 큐티클층에 꽃히게 되며 이것이 epicuticle 층까지 뻗어 나가 키틴화되는 것으로 사료된다.
The relationship between muscle attachment and cuticle during the moulting process in Bombyx mori L. was observed using electron microscope. The cuticle layer formation in the region of muscle attachment is quite different from the other region morphologically and the outer plasma membrane of epidermal cell is very microvillated and secretes a lot of granules with the high electron density that seem to be related with the muscle attachment to cuticle. Desmosomes composed of multiple layer with different electron density arise from the epidermal cells at the point of muscle attachment and tonofibrillae extended from them are transversed through epidermal cells and these desmosomes seem to occur at the level of Z-line. Tonofibrillae extended from the desmosome to the hemidesmosome made up of deep indentation of the outer plasma membrane of the epidermal tell. hew fibres produced in hemidesmosomes are inserted and extended to the pore canal and thou seem to be sclerotized.
