The laboratory rearing of the smoky-brown cockroach has been under taken in the insectary to get the basic data on the life history of the species. The insectary had been kept the temperature at 25${pm}$2$^{circ}C$ and 60${pm}$2% of relative humidity. The results of the laboratory breeding of the smoky-brown cockroach were summarized as follows; 1, The production of the ootheca; 1) The interval between the moult to abult and the production of the first ootheca were 17 days on the average. 2) The period of the ootheca carried before deposition were ranged from 24 to 48 hours. 3) The interval between the first and the second ootheca production were 12 days on the aver age. 2. The incubation period of eggs which were observed from 8 batches were 45(43∼48) days on the average. 3. The average numbers of nymph hatched per ootheca were 17 individuals and the hatching rate as shown as 68.5% on the average. 4. The development of the nymph; 1) The number of moults were 10 times throughout the nymphal period. 2) The nymphal developing period were 28 days on the average and the individual developing period varied from 209 to 342 days. 3) The period of the growing to adult were 271 days in male and 289 days in female on the average. 4) The average growing period from 1st to 3rd developing instar of nymph were 13.6 days but it were 40.3 days from 8th to 10th instar. 5) The mortality of the nymph was 23.5% of total observed individuals, but 53% among the total mortality was shown within 1st to 3rd instar of nymph. 6) The sex ratio of adult of male to female was 56 to 48.
