Broncholithiasis is a condition in which a calcified hilar or mediastinal lymph node compress or erode the tracheobronchial tree and cause a variety of clinical manifestation including cough hemoptysis and obstructive pneumonitis. We retrospectively analysed 10 cases of broncholithiasis which were diagnosed by CT bronchoscopy and surgery in seoul National University Hospital from 1983 to 1988. In all 10 patients CT showed calcified broncholith clearly while fiberoptic bronchoscopy detected endobronchial abnormality in 9 patients among whom broncholithiasis were suggested in 4 patients. In 7 patients the sequelae of prior tuberculous lymphadenitis was considered as an etiology of bron-cholithiasis. The most frequent location of broncholith was the right middle lobe followed by anterior seg-ment of right upper lobe and superior segment of both lower lobes. CT is the most specific imaging modality fot the diagnosis of broncholithiasis.
