Although the incidence of calcification of the basal ganglia at routine autopsies was reported to be 3.4% that of basal ganglia calcification on brain CT was known to be as low as 0.4%( Koller 1979 Sacha 1979 박철민 1981). The pupose of the present study was to analyze the incidence of basal ganglia calicfication according to the generation of CT machines. The results were as follows: 1. The incidence of basal ganglia calcification was significantly higher when a 3rd generation brain CT was uses(2.2%)than a 2nd generation brain CT was used(0.9%) 2. The incidence of basal ganglia calcification was significantly higher in the female(2.1%) than in the male(0.8%) 3. the incidence of basal ganglia calcification increased with age. 4. The commonest site of basal ganglia calcification was the globus pallidus.
