Computed tomography (CT) of 15 patients of pathologically proven Krukenberg tumor were reviewed to assess the radiographic appearances. The most common primary site was stom-ach(n=10) followed by colon(n=2) breast(n=1) and unknown site(n=2) The CT appearance of krukenberg tumor was usually mixed density(n=8) but occasionally solid(n=4) or cystic (n=3) adnexal masses with smooth lobulated margin and variable degree of septation. Bilat-eral involvement was more common and the masses showed similar CT characteristics in each side. Because CT features of Krukenberg tumor are not specifice and similar to that of primary ovarian carcinoma pathologic confirmation is essential ro rule out double primary carcinoma or even benign ovarian tumor. In a total of 15 cases ten cases were detected at initial staging CT scanning of the gastric and colonic cancer. The authors emphasize that the ovary should be routinely examinated in properative CT staging of gastrointestinal carcinoma.
