Erwinia carotovora subsp. Carotovora (Ecc), a pathogen of tobacco hollow stalk disease, was isolated for testing susceptibility to streptomycin from diseased plants in burley tobacco growing area. Of 157 isolates tested, 17 isolates (108%) were resistant to the antibiotic at the antibiotic from field soils, which streptomycin had been used continuously for three years for control of the disease was three times higher than those of non-used.
