A biochemical taxonomy using the electrophoretic technique is evaluated for identifying the 3 species of the genus Pagaronia by the general proteins. The result obtained from the band-counting method using simple matching coefficients with 4 clustering methods is consistent with the traditional taxonomic view. For comparison, a computer-aided pattern analysis is tested, and the output coincides with the previous one.
