The purpose of this paper is to re-examine the classification method of the pre-modern Korean glossaries, $Yeogeo yuhae$(譯語類解), $Dongmun yuhae$(同文類解), $Mongeo yuhae$(募語類解), $Waeeo yuhae$(倭語類解), and $Bangeon yuseok$(方言類解), which were published in Sayeokwon(司譯院). The arrangement of the categories in these glossaries are not arbitary : they had their own criteria of classification. By investigating the order of the categories of lexical entries, we will find the criteria of categorization that the authors of these glossaries established. Though there are differences between their criteria and those of the modern lexical field, their view is worth studying throughly in that they had categorized lexicons systematically.
