XML(eXtensible Markup Language)은 HTML의 단순함과 SGML의 복잡함을 극복하기 위한 노력의 하나로 시작되었으며, 현재 인터넷 문서 표현과 관련된 여러 분야에서 활발하게 연구되어지고 있다. XML 문서는 HTML과는 달리 문서의 내용과 표현을 분리하고 있으므로, HTML과 같은 형식으로 보여지는 문서를 만들기 위해서는 XML 문서와 CSS(Cascading Style Sheets) 또는 XSL(eXtensible Stylesheet Language)과 같은 스타일시트가 추가로 필요하다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 XML 문서의 내용과 표현을 동시에 편집할 수 있는 WYSIWYG XML 편집기를 제안한다. 이 XML 편집기를 사용하면 미리 정의된 템플릿에 따라 XML문서를 작성하게 되므로, DTD(Document Type Definition)를 모르는 사용자도 n 문서를 쉽게 작성할 수 있으며, 또한 편집 화면 그대로의 스타일시트 결과가 함께 생성되므로 스타일시트 문서를 따로 작성하지 않아도 된다. 또한 여러 스타일 편집 기능을 제공하여 초보자라도 쉽게 XML문서를 작성할 수 있다.
XML(eXtensible Markup Language) is pro-posed to overcome the simplicity of HTML and the complexity of SGML and actively studied in the various fields related to the internet document representation. Since XML documents, unlike HTML documents, separate the contents and representation, the stylesheets such as CSS(Cascading Style Sheets) and XSL(eXtensible Stylesheet Language) are required to be shown as HTML format. In this paper, a WYSIWYG XML editor is proposed to edit the contents and representation of XML documents simultaneously. By using this XML editor, users build XML documents according to pre-defined templates, so that they can make XML documents without knowing the corresponding DTD and do not write stylesheets separately since they are automatically generated. The novice users build XML documents conveniently by utilize various style editing functions.
