Generally, aseismic elements used in buildings have high rigidity and yield strength, but conventional braced frame have instable elements which load decreased remarkably due to brace buckling. If high ductile and rigid elements are arranged properly, response of buildings can be controlled with rigidity of elements against small earthquakes or winds, and with hysteretic behavior against earthquakes. This paper presents the test results conducted for evaluating the structural behavior of steel shear panels. Cyclic tests with total seven steel shear panels were performed using the parameters, aspect ratios (1.0, and 1.5) and types of reinforcing stiffeners. The steel shear panels buckled at a shear force. But, Plate buckling did not lead the shear panels to immediate degradation in their strength. Steel shear panels with horizontal, cross, and diagonal stiffeners exhibited stable hysteresis and higher buckling strength.
