This paper aimed at analyzing of create methods of new characters for carpentry terminology in the era of Joseon Dynasty. The results are as follow. Coinage in terminology is divide into making word and creating character. Making word means making new words by using chinese characters. And creating character means creating new chinese character. Coinage principles of carpentry terminology were found. Coinage principles are phonetic complexes形聲, logical aggregates會意 and borrowings假借. Methods of creating character of carpentry terminology were illuminated. They are classified new character新造字 and quasi-new character準新造字. New character is divided into phonetic complexes形聲 principle and logical aggregates會意 principle with borrowings假借. And quasi-new character is divided into phonetic complexes形聲 principle and phonetic complexes形聲 principle with borrowings假借.
