본 연구는 대학도서관의 효과적인 장서폐기를 위한 개선방안을 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 국외 대학도서관의 장서폐기지침과 장서폐기사례를 살펴보고, 장서폐기를 실시한 경험이 있는 국내 대학도서관을 대상으로 현재 시행되고 있는 장서폐기 운영현황과 지침현황을 알아본 후에 이들 내용을 토대로 그 문제점을 분석하고 대학도서관 장서폐기의 개선방안을 제안하였다.
This study aimed at proposing an improvement for effective disposal in academic libraries. To this end, the study conducted a survey on literature, case studies and the current situation. This study selected the five foreign cases on academic libraries that open to the public regarding their disposal guidelines or operation cases on their Website. To determine the current state of disposal and needs for improvement in Korea, this study conducted a survey on the current situation in the libraries of Korean universities. Based on the above results, this study proposed the improvement plan for an effective disposal in academic libraries.
