With the recent widespread use of the wireless Internet along with the appearance of smart phones, more people are expressing and exchanging their ideas and opinions through social media. If such information could be used by information recommendation systems, more personalized recommendations based on the preferences and characteristics of the users may be provided. Also, the credibility and quality of the recommendation may be improved. However, in order to store and process such social data, a proper data model and an efficient processing mechanism are needed. In this paper, a data model based on big data for supporting social recommendation methods is proposed. Additionally, the usefulness of the data model is verified by experimenting with a social information recommendation method in a cloud computing environment.
