유학 신청은 크게 두 가지 방식이 있다. 한 가지 방법은 전문 유학 기관을 통해 유학 지원을 하는 것이고, 아니면 스스로 유학 정보를 찾아가며 진행하는 것이다. 대부분의 대학들은 홈 페이지를 통해 입학 관련 정보들을 공개하고 있으므로 지원자들은 전문 유학 기관의 도움 없이 유학 준비를 할 수 있게 되었다. 유학 지원자는 웹 검색을 통해 외국 대학의 정보를 기반으로 의사 결정을 할 수 있게 되었지만 방대한 정보를 가진 웹 상에서 직접 유학 정보를 찾는 것은 시간이 많이 소요되는 방법이다. 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 시맨틱 기술을 이용한 유학 안내 시스템을 제안하였다. 또한 유학 정보 검색의 특성상 비완전 매칭을 하기 위해 시맨틱웹 서비스 매치메이킹 알고리즘을 활용한 새로운 혼합형 매치메이킹 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 실험을 통해 기존의 완전 매칭보다 지원자에게 더 많은 유용한 정보를 제시하는 것을 확인하였다.
The ways of applying foreign universities can be divided into two categories. One is to take consultation from agencies; the other is to collect information about universities then apply independently. Most of universities have their own homepages and admission information is published through homepages. Applicants do not have to take consultation from agencies any more, they are willing to search the internet for collecting information and apply by themselves. But collecting admission information by searching the internet is time-consuming and selecting appropriate universities is a cumbersome process. For solving the problems mentioned above, we proposed a guidance system for studying abroad by applying semantic web technology. For providing mechanism of inexact matching we proposed a new hybrid matchmaking algorithm based on existing matchmaking algorithms. In comparison with exact matching we provided more useful information by using hybrid matchmaking algorithm in experiments.
