IVEF(Inter-system VTS Exchange Format) 서비스는 해상교통관제시스템 상호간, 선박 상호간에 해상교통정보를 교환하기 위한 프로토콜로서 e-Navigation이라 불리는 차세대 선박항법체계의 일환으로 표준화가 진행 중이다. V-145 권고안의 표준은 오픈소스 프로젝트로 개발이 진행되고 있으며, 프로토콜의 기반이 되는 파서가 SAX(Simple API for XML) 파서로 구성되어져 있다. 해상 환경에서 선박에는 제한된 리소스를 가지는 임베디드 시스템이 탑재되며, 열악한 네트워크 환경으로 인해 메시지의 신속한 처리가 필요하게 된다. 이에 비해 VTS(Vessel Traffic System) 관제탑의 경우 대량의 선박 메시지를 처리하므로 같은 프로토콜이라도 상황에 따라 다른 특성을 가지는 파서가 요구된다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존의 SAX 파서에 비해 저용량의 메모리를 소비하며, 수행속도가 빠른 XMLPull Parser를 이용하여 IVEF 프로토콜의 성능을 개선하였다. 또한, 이를 이용하여 무선 환경에서 V-145 프로토콜을 시뮬레이션하는 서버/클라이언트 시스템을 개발하였다. 실제 운항중인 선박의 에뮬레이션을 위해 안드로이드 플랫폼이 탑재된 스마트 폰을 이용하였고, VTS 서비스 센터의 에뮬레이션을 위해 윈도우즈 7 운영체제 기반의 데스크톱 컴퓨터를 사용하였다.
IVEF is the protocol designed for exchange of marine transportation information between the vessel traffic control systems and between the vessels. Standardization of the IVEF service is under way as a part of the next-generation marine navigation system called e-Navigation. The standard for the recommendation V-145 has been under development as an open-source project, and the protocol is based on the SAX parser. In the marine environment, vessels are equipped with embedded systems with restricted resources, and due do the poor network environment, messages need to be handled quickly. For VTS control towers, on the contrary, parsers with different characteristics are required for the same protocol depending on the situation. This paper suggests the IVEF protocol based on the XML-PullParser which supports faster processing speed and requires less memory than the existing SAX parser. It also suggests the server/client system which simulates the V-145 protocol in the wireless environment. Android-based smart phones were used to emulate the vessels, and Windows7-based desk tops were used to emulate the VTS service center.
