This study was to analyze the perception of students with visual impairments, Iryo
teachers, masseurs about Iryo education institutions. The subjects of this study included
272 students with visual impairments, 111 Iryo teachers in 12 schools for the blind
nationwide and 367 masseurs. To identify differences among groups and cross analysis and
analysis of frequency per questions were used. The conclusions drawn from this research
are as follows: First, as for Iryo curriculum of school for the blind, perception appeared
high in order of masseurs, teachers and students. Both students and teachers had high
perception about enhanced practical skill and masseurs had high perception about enhanced
clinical practice. To improve Iryo curriculum efficiency, both students and teachers thought
that students lacked motivation for Iryo and masseurs thought that class time number of
Iryo is lacked. students have in study Iryo subjects and Iryo teachers and masseurs have
problems in teaching multiple handicapped students. And also, the questions arise about
need for introducing foreign massage curriculum in the domestic school for the blind.
Second, As for professional department Iryo course, students and teachers showed high
awareness of the need for various kinds of three-year professional department of vocational course for the students with visual impairments in the school for the blind.
However, masseurs showed high awareness of the need for three-year professional
department of Iryo course. And also, every group had high perception that governmental
incentive should be given to the students who are in the professional department of Iryo
course. Every group showed high awareness that Iryo rehabilitation course should continue
in the school for the blind and at the same time, the course has many problems in the
students' guidance. Third, As for transitional education, Iryo teachers perception appeared
high in order of Iryo teachers, students, masseurs. But every groups have high awareness
about need of transitional education. And as for after-training, students and masseurs
taking only informations from Iryo teachers and Iryo teachers doing a after-training
through visiting or concert.
