To report one resuscitation case regarding early rescue from drowning in water where early basic cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and other active treatments for recovery from cardiac arrest were given. This report was based on
interview and medical records as well as literary reviews through informed consent of relevant local rescue team members.
The victim in the case report was first rescued and treated with chest compression by a taker of early action. Next,
the victim was treated with BVM-aided cardiopulmonary resuscitation by 119 rescue team members who arrived at the
site. Finally, the victim was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. The vicitim was specially treated at S Hospital followed
by J University Hospital. On the fifteenth day after the drowning accident, the vicitm recovered and was discharged from
the hospital for rehabilitation at home. The victim rescued from drowning was reported to have had a lower body temperature
measured at the point of admission in hospital emergency center than other causal cases of cardiac arrest, so
better medical results of active cardiopulmonary resuscitation even with a long duration of cardiac arrest was more probable.
Therefore it is necessary to take more proactive pre-hospitalization action of cardiopulmonary resuscitation for
cases rescued from drowning in water. And it is important that hospital emergency rooms take more time and effort in
special cardiopulmonary resuscitation for those cases, while providing on-site regular emergency care training for more
effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation immediately upon rescue. Moreover, it is necessary for emergency rescue team
members to master and specialize in know-how of phone responses, so that they can give effective emergency measure
guidance.
