One of the fallacies that ‘field of education’ has disclosed is the fallacy of following
the formula of ‘education = schooling’ which blocks genuine educational discussion about the
education by making our ideas fixated on the level of commonsense. The term ‘school education’
seems to be beside the common discussion of ‘education = schooling’. But according to this
paper, which critically approaches to the meaning of the term ’school education’ in ‘Crisis of
School Education’ using the term ’school education’ primarily for developing an argument,
real use of the term is different. The term ‘school education’ is not only conceptualized as
a tool for realizing other functions the school has been supposed to serve, but is also
conceptualized as a term for indicating schooling itself or is conceptualized with a
commonsense of ‘school = the place for educating’, which shows redundant use of the term
‘education’. So the term ‘school education’ is vague in substance on this account, and
there is no reason for the term should be included in there. Reconstruction work is left
after critical approach. And exploring premise for reconstruction should be preceded before
reconstruction. So in this study, after critical approach to the term ‘school education’,
premises has been explored for justifiable use of the term in educational context.
