‘기존의 교육학’이 노정한 여러 오류 중에서 우리의 사고를 상식적 수준에 고착화시킴으로 써 교육에 대한 본격적인 교육학적 논의를 가로막는 오류로 ‘교육 = 학교태’의 도식을 답습하 는 오류가 있다. ‘학교교육’이라는 용어는 얼핏 보아 ‘교육 = 학교태’라는 상식적 논의를 벗어 나 있는 것으로 보인다. 하지만 ‘학교교육’ 용어를 전면에 내세워 논의를 전개하고 있는 ‘학교 교육 위기론’에서의 ‘학교교육’ 용어의 의미를 비판적으로 접근한 본 연구에 따르면 사정은 전 혀 그렇지 못하다. ‘학교교육’이라는 용어는 학교에 기대되는 여타 기능실현의 도구로서 개념 화되고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 학교태 그 자체를 지칭하는 용어로서 개념화된다든지, ‘학교=교육하 는 곳’이라는 상식에 기대어 개념화됨으로써 거기서의 ‘교육’은 단지 잉여적(剩餘的)으로 사용 되고 있었다. 이 때문에 ‘학교교육’이라는 용어는 실체가 불분명한 용어일 뿐만 아니라 굳이 ‘교육’이라는 용어가 거기에 포함될 이유가 없다. 비판적 접근 이후에는 재건의 과제가 남는 다. 그러나 재건의 과제는 재건을 위한 전제 탐색이 선행되어야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 ‘학 교교육’ 용어에 대한 비판적 접근에 이어 학교교육이라는 용어가 교육학적 맥락에서 정당하게 사용될 수 있는 전제들을 탐색하였다.
One of the fallacies that ‘field of education’ has disclosed is the fallacy of following the formula of ‘education = schooling’ which blocks genuine educational discussion about the education by making our ideas fixated on the level of commonsense. The term ‘school education’ seems to be beside the common discussion of ‘education = schooling’. But according to this paper, which critically approaches to the meaning of the term ’school education’ in ‘Crisis of School Education’ using the term ’school education’ primarily for developing an argument, real use of the term is different. The term ‘school education’ is not only conceptualized as a tool for realizing other functions the school has been supposed to serve, but is also conceptualized as a term for indicating schooling itself or is conceptualized with a commonsense of ‘school = the place for educating’, which shows redundant use of the term ‘education’. So the term ‘school education’ is vague in substance on this account, and there is no reason for the term should be included in there. Reconstruction work is left after critical approach. And exploring premise for reconstruction should be preceded before reconstruction. So in this study, after critical approach to the term ‘school education’, premises has been explored for justifiable use of the term in educational context.
