This research identifies status and meaning of social welfare values and verifies that
values is appropriately educated in social welfare education in Korean University through
literature reviewing research method. It is confirmed that values on social welfare has an
essential status in formulating direction and contents of social welfare theory and
practice, however researchers have different values on social welfare. Especially values
difference on social welfare is divided greatly between social policy oriented researchers
and practice oriented researchers. In addition 'Social Welfare Ethics and Philosophy,'
essential subject in teaching values in University, is mostly approached in normative
ethics and hardly covered with meta ethics, which is reflective ethics. The research
suggests that 'Social Welfare Ethics and Philosophy', a curriculum, should be replaced
with 'Social Welfare Values and Philosophy', and it is necessary to teach meta ethics
instead of teaching normative ethics in this curriculum.
